Inflated attendance
Today's game probably won't be as well attended as I presumed a few weeks ago. A forecast of rain mid game paired with the fear of a loss is not a recipe for a sell out.

My guess is about 16,000 and we report 21,000. I haven't gone in yet but UB traveled nicely.

RE: Inflated attendance
Since they scan tickets UT can give an accurate count, there is no indication or need to inflate. I can seat in the stands and usually estimate crowd with a thousand or so

Because people bought season tickets that wouldn't or won't show up.

Didn’t quite a few Miami buy season tickets to save some coin?

Good a place as any to ask this question.

When was the press box built and wasn't it the first of it's kind?

1990. Idk about it's kind? Like one that holds people? Not sure.

I believe it was either the second largest or had the second most fan suites of any when it was built.

Hard to say but the ticket office said that they got very few requests for season tix from Florida. UM fans from elsewhere may have done that but there’s no way to know.

The Max Gerber press tower holds just under 1100 people, including the 400 seat Stadium Club on the first level...
It is almost identical to what Neyland Stadium (Tennessee) has, except Neyland has towers on both sides of stadium...

There were over 3000 more fans at the Miami game than any other home game this year so clearly some local and regional UMiami fans attended and yes some may have bought UT home season tickets (there were dozens sitting around me in a season ticket section, wearing full head to toe gear). All the UT ticket office stated was that there were not many UT season tickets bought from the Miami area, but they clearly have a national draw and fan support that includes our region.

I don't know if the UT ticket office includes all sold tickets in the official attendance or not, but I do not believe they inflate attendance by the thousands as its not that hard to look around and see what the number is. If you attend the games like I do its pretty easy to see a crowd that is say 18,000 versus one that would be 22,000. And apparently there was no need to inflate the number for yesterdays game.

Students don't care anymore. We are 3-4 not 6-1 or 5-2. Michigan and Ohio State games will no longer be factors from here on out.

There is no way they inflate any of their attendance numbers by 5,000 (25% in your example). As a fan its really easy to look around the Glass Bowl and tell whether it is 16,000 or 21,000 and which is correct.

Oh and its not just the students who don't care, UT and local football fans will also disappear. Even last year while 7-1 our mid week and final game attendances dropped 2,000-3,000, and you are right this season we are likely looking 15,000 or less for each of last two home games, lower if weather is bad.

RE: Inflated attendance
What WAS the attendance yesterday?

Lots of empty seats around me on the east side, and with the poor student turnout I was guessing no more than 17,000 in the stands?
