First time on a helicopter...Took charcoal and misc. stuff to Mexico Beach, and small communities North that have had no relief. (yes, I was a flying furnace!!!
)
No way to describe Mexico Beach on the ground....took some nice clothes that were originally destined for the Salvation Army (and shoes/shoes/shoes my wife and I really never use), and folks grabbed them up quicker than the food.
Now I understand why folks DUCK (quack quack) when departing a helicopter---while you don't have to, your brain instinctively yells out "DUCK!"
I also got to yell "get to da choppah", which drew a few laughs and a few eye rolls.
Had some cold beanie weenies and warm Co-Cola with a family outside Wewahitchka who said we were the first people they had seen (yes, I am a people!) since the storm.
Lastly, drank a case of beer with the inmates from a correctional facility near Wewa----Just Kiddin'
----actually, took them a buncha water to use while correcting them as often as I could! Pretty good guys until you realize the guy next to you probably murdered his whole family.
That is all!!
