I remember that game, Nippert Stadium mud - and I was a freshman also. Basically, the offenses had to do something silly (like a turnover) as the defenses were not bothering to stop anyone.
Yeah, Cleve Bryant was something else for OU. Defenses usually could not find him, and when they did, they could't tackle him. Good passer also. Should have gotten a chance at playing QB in the pro's, but they would not do black QB's then. (Yeah, real thing.)
If my memory is correct, this was just a week or two before our big comeback against Miami.

The article about the history doesn't state that the game was called after a skirmish broke out with some time left in the 4th qtr. Somebody will refresh my lost memory of the name of the OU quarterback. UC's defense was never that good that game or the entire season. Greg Cook, Jim O'Brien and Tom Rossely ran up some unbelievable statistics in that game.

The 2018 standard has become a different uniform combination every week and with UC possessing the best colors in sports--red and black, it's easily done.
This is a good look. Personally, I'd rather see black helmets with every combination all season, making an exception for Homecoming or a bowl game only.

As long as they keep the white unis away the rest of the year and black out Nippert at night, I'm fine with this. I like the red helmets.

That combo reminds me of this play.
As great as the Tony Pike to Armon Binns pass was against Pitt for the Big East championship, this one ranks right up there at the top of UC football history. An amazing throw and a more amazing catch against a quality opponent in a national TV game. Congrats to Munchie and to Damon Julian and thanks for the memories.

Thanks for bringing this one up! Great memory. I screamed so loud my neighbor wondered what the heck was going on. One of the top plays during my time as a UC fan.
If the ball doesn't move ever so slightly as Julian secures it they may have marked UC on the half yard line. However, with the call on the field being TD and the ball not totally secure until he crosses the plain there was no way to do so. That was freaking incredible. Another great Bearcat trip.
And if we trust our local meteorologists, the rain should not be an issue at kickoff, as of the latest forecast. Let's hope the place is packed; weather could be nearly perfect in terms of temperature and humidity, so no excuses for the fair weather crowd.
OU doesn't appear to be firing on all cylinders yet this season. I'm hoping they don't get it all together for tomorrow. Then again, even if they do Nippert is a probably a ten point advantage for the home team.

Great Bearcat memory! Thanks for posting this.
I remember going bananas watching this play. Man, i really miss us being on ABC from time to time.

I guess that's my favorite play to re-watch, along with the winning touchdown @ Pitt for the Big East championship and Sugar Bowl. Toss in the winning touchdown against Duke in the Belk Bowl. Here's hoping some new "greatest Bearcat plays" are on the near horizon. There is good reason for renewed optimism.
