Worst coach in CUSA by far
Goes for it on 4th down from your own 15yd line with score tied. Runs the same play that went for no gain on the previous play. We were averaging barely 1yd per running up to that point. No coach who calls himself a head coach goes for it in that situation. NONE.
Also a point that others are obviously overlooking just before halftime was that we were in a 4th and 5 at midfield with 1:59 to go up 21-7. We go for it and fail (not surprising with this team) and leave them plenty of time to quickly march down the field and score making it 21-14 at half and give them all the momentum. Had we punted like we should have we probably hold them and still have the momdatum on our side. The debacle that happened later would probably never have occurred had we done this.

One other thing is our "running game." Oxymoron there. I have only seen 2 different running plays. One is a sweep while 95percent have been where the ball has been hiked to the qb and then handed to the running back who is standing next to him at a standstill (no forward momentum) then decide where he is going meanwhile any hole the line may have opened up has long since closed. We will be last in rushing again with this coached. Any high school coach could devise a better rushing game than this one. Sanford lost this game. He gave up 14pts himself. He's not ready for the big lights.
I predict this will be his last head coaching job.

Wait... is David Bailiff coaching at WKU now? Thought he was involved in a BBQ restaurant.

Feel bad for you guys, ugly reminder of the dreaded Snyder years here. Just don't make the mistake we did and keep him around for 5 years.

Boy Wonder sounded completely clueless during the post game interview.

Overall, I think Todd Stewart has been a great AD and nobody gets it right all the time. This hire was clearly one of those times.

We will trade. 13 years coaching. No conference title. Can't beat a lower level SEC team and struggles against a FCS school. Says "we competed" against everyone, even if it's an obvious blowout. And can't understand how to train athletes where they don't get hurt in the first 2 games. Thinks 6 wins is a great season.

Fans are over it but we have a pansy AD who won't make changes. Welcome to MT Football!

Lol. No I didn't see your team play but it's hard to believe there could be another college coach as bad as Sanford.

I would trade easily. This coach will never see 6 wins again. He peaked last year.

Lane Kiffen did the same thing 4th and 4 from 20, look like a genius. Of course they run tempo momentum offense, they dont get going early, they might lose

RE: Worst coach in CUSA by far
This guy is a total tool.
I would not trust him to drive the team bus.

I want to introduce him to Ken McDonald (a coach who put our basketball program into a decade long tail spin that we are just now recovering from)

Mike meet Ken .......... McDummy 1 meet McDummy 2

So now our top 25 football program will be trash until Sanford and Son loads up his truck of junk and heads out of town.

NOBODY IN THEIR RIGHT MIND GOES FOR A 4th DOWN ON YOUR OWN 15 YARD LINE WITH A TIE SCORE AND A QUARTER AND A HALF TO PLAY.

NOBODY

RE: Worst coach in CUSA by far
I'm just sick and dont even want to think about how long it will be before I can watch Western play even decent football....

a little over a year ago I said I couldn't imagine not being at a Western football game....home or away. I left our Christmas vacation at PC Beach on Christmas eve and dropped my wife at home in Owensboro while my son and I drove to Detroit spent the night. watched a football game then drove back home after 8 to 12 inches of snow on Christmas day. Picked up my wife and headed back to PC Beach to finish Christmas and New Years. It was worth it even in losing

My wife and I watch a Western basketball game at the Garden in NYC on Thanksgiving day that ended around 7pm and I drove from there to Marshall to attend a 11am football game. Had to go over a mountain range with snow as large as baseballs just to get there. It was well worth it in one of the most exciting football games I've seen.

Now the though of driving the 140 mile round trip to a home game is sicking...but I will.

I've always said all of us are only as good as the next hire. While I knew there would be a drop off what I didn't bank on was this AD hiring someone that plays a 100% different style than what won 23 games in 2 seasons and 31 in 3 seasons.

I said it on this board....Western's AD was not that stupid. But even with a training wheel hire the talk was a wide open exciting offense after the hire. But with every asst coach hire I could see the writing on the wall. This ******* of a training wheel coach was hiring people without any FBS experience. I knew right then he wanted asst coaches that did not have opinions...

they would be happy with the extra pay and moving up from FCS or D3. The worse type of boss, head coach, is a dreamer that tells you he dreamed every step that will happen. Those are the ones that will not give up the dream that they are at fault. It will always be someone else, or the talent...till the very end. That's exactly what we are seeing from Boy Wonder. As someone that's been self employed since the middle of my Sr year in high school (40 years).....

I know people and can smell out a turd a mile away

I welcome it. I'd rather have turnover with crappy coaches than suffer through DECADES!!!!!!! of this crap. No excitement at all about the program. No interest. No expectation. It's all the same. We hear "we'll be good!" from the coaches then this crap every single freaking year.

It sounds like many of us might be competing against each other for new coaches. Since we are all friends, we should have some rules. First, we will pick alphabetically: Charlotte, then...
