Oklahoma stays in the Big 12. No openings anywhere in P5 as a result. Realignment stillborn.

Liberty isn't going to a conference anytime soon. Our schedules are way better than anything the SBC, MAC or CUSA could provide(MWC is way too far). The flexibility of being an independent seems awesome.

RE: What’s your BOLD prediction next realignment round?
My prediction the next realignment the A5 will decide its time to split from the NCAA.

The cutoff for other conference to join will be TV money greater than 1.5 million per school in the conference TV deal.

This means the Big East and AAC get in. The MWC gets in by expanding into Texas. The MAC gets in with its midweek deal and by adding Marshall.

Then a new conference forms....best of CUSA/A10/SBC. Remaining pieces of value get a deal on Amazon Prime. The weaker SBC/CUSA properties are left behind.

I think the split is going to be done on TV lines. Some of the other moves you guys talk about like Gonzaga going to the MWC are going to happen for them to stay in the game. Dayton and VCU are going to have to make that same decision at some point.

The SEC and Big Ten will go first, followed by the Big XII. Schools with no options such as Syracuse and Boston College will sue the defectors getting millions of dollars in lawsuits and exit fees. Notre Dame will join its Catholic brethren in the Big East and remain independent in football. The remaining ACC schools will raid the AAC and one or two C-USA schools will be added as well.

Sounds like basically a merger of ACC and AAC. The American Athletic Atlantic Coast Combined Conference (AAACCC)?

East Div: 1. UConn 2. Army 3. Temple 4. UCF 5. USF 6. ECU 7. Tulane
8. Memphis 9. Cincinnati

I can't see all four of these deciding to deemphasize football. Especially Oklahoma State, which has a legitimate shot at the SEC.

I think you have a decimal in the wrong place. That should read $15 million, not $1.5 million.

Really? The Big 8-SWC merger got axed because several of the SWC programs did not add to the conference television contract.

If it happens along TV lines, it will be some G5 programs that get in, but not conferences. And some P5 programs might find themselves scrambling.

Most forms of entertainment require the spectator to engage the ole willing suspension of disbelief. Message board posting is no different.

West Virginia and Cincinnati to the ACC.
Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Texas Tech and Kansas State to the PAC.

Tennessee and Auburn to the ACC, North Carolina State and Virginia Tech to the SEC, so the four-letter network can prop up the ACC and SEC networks.

ACC/SEC rivalry weekend:

Auburn/Alabama
Clemson/South Carolina
Florida State/Florida
Georgia Tech/Georgia
Louisville/Kentucky
North Carolina/North Carolina State
Tennesee/Vanderbilt
Virginia/Virginia Virginia Tech

Alabama/Tennessee and Auburn/Georgia still continue as non-conference games.

I think they'll do it by conference. Set a minimum amount for a TV deal and those who don't bring any value are out.

I don't think its going to be excessively high like say 15 million to the point were it would exclude everyone besides the A5. All it needs to be is high enough to exclude those without significant TV deals.

A new super division with 120-150 schools. Retain the 64 team tournaments in sports.

The A5 knows it doesn't have 100% of the value in D1. Closer to 85%

The other 15% is Big East, G5 and a couple of cases in the basketball conferences.

I don't know about UConn specifically. But I will predict that in the next 10-15 years, several G5 programs will become football indies for the same reason that BYU is a football indy: To position themselves as above the "G" level even though they are not in a "P" conference.

Those in charge will decide smaller is better and a push back to 10 members (ala the b12 and BE ) will gain steam. will go back to more regionally based leagues

The Mountain West western division breaks away from Boise's renewed tv bonus deal. All rejoin the Big West, who revives football as an FBS conference by calling up UC Davis and Cal Poly. UC Riverside and Cal State Northridge are kicked out. Cal State Bakersfield follows soon after, the revitalized Big West settling at 13 members.

Why not, right? 07-coffee3

RE: What’s your BOLD prediction next realignment round?
My bold prediction in the next round of realignment begins with a not-so-bold prediction: Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC. The bold prediction is the 8-team XII adds several programs to create a 14- or 16-team conference that remains a power conference without the Longhorns and Sooners through the next round of media negotiations.
