Just to give you some facts to go with your view. For quite some time the city of Lynchburg actually would not allow LU to have anymore residential students past a cap at or near that 15k, until some major restructuring of roads and highways around campus took place. To this day I’m not sure if that cap has been lifted yet as I’m no longer living in the area. Once it is and the work has been done the gap between online and residential will be much smaller
Additionally Liberty was at the forefront in online education as they offered long distance programs over VHS in the 80’s which morphed into DVDs and then eventually became the online route. There are major universities in the SEC that have come to see how LU does their online program. Furthermore, LU has always wanted education to be affordable and accessible to the average person which is why their online degrees do so well. You’re only upset about something you don’t understand.

$55k for an online degree is not that affordable.
No one is paying that. Here’s a link to LU’s website with actual costs. You’ll also do well to take a look at the Financial Aid and discount numbers they have listed.

I think the point, however, is that it lists 9,360 for 24 hours. That's 390 an hour, which would still be 47k for a 120 hour bachelor degree. You can't discount pell grant, because not everyone gets it, and someone still pays it...the tax payer. I happen to agree it's too expensive, but it's not a Liberty problem, just an overall education problem. ODU charges 389 an hour for their online out of state tuition, MTSU charges 542.
Agreed, the cost to attend college is out of control.
Most working adults, (as you noted) wouldn't qualify for need based grants and would go part time. LU has its' tuition set at $455 per credit hour for part timers, which is where I got my estimate of $55k for 120 hours.
And that's assuming they take only classes that go towards their degree. Which as we all know is unlikely.

. It’s all good, I’m with ya. I made that initial post in regards to amount of online vs residential students anyway. Didn’t mean to take it down the rabbit hole of cost haha

RE: ODU vs Liberty
Jesus Christ, can we please have a moratorium on the Liberty talk until they play UNT and then back out of sight out of mind after that one.
I do not care about the goings on of Lynchburg, their indoctrination center(or its online extension) or their independent football program.
Do not waste your time trying to "educate" me further on any of these matter, I could not care less.
You have a couple of OOC games with CUSA and that is the sum total of your relevance to this board.

I would appreciate either that or at least renaming this thread to remove ODU from it so I can stop being reminded of the game.

RE: ODU vs Liberty
There are a lot of areas where CUSA schools have to bend and crawl just to get wherever the He#$ we are trying to go. Being associated with a university founded by a Narrow -Minded, Hate-Mongering, Racist, Homophobic, charlatan Bigot and currently run by Bigot Jr. who espouses the same venomous bile is not one of those areas. I hope MT never schedules Liberty in any sport.

ODU got paid 1.3 million to play a school a 3 hour drive away. For a GOOD team in our conference that would be a winnable game. Id sure as hell rather get paid 1.3 million to play liberty than Oklahoma.
The optics of getting spanked by Oklahoma look much better than getting spanked by Liberty.

With reasonable certainty no team in the top half of C-USA would get spanked by Liberty. FAU, FIU, North Texas, UAB, Southern Miss, Marshall could all beat Liberty by decent margins. La Tech, Midd Tenn could win as well. Charlotte , ODU, Rice and UTEP are probably the four teams liberty could beat right now. Rice im not even sure about because they were able to put 27 points against Houston.

I honestly believed this going into this game. I knew they had a good QB and WR, but I thought they would get abused on the lines, particularly their DL. I knew they grabbed a bunch of JUCOs, but that seems to never work. However, I can tell you that they will have a good offense this year. That QB is an incredible college QB and there aren't many G5 WRs better than AGG. What helps is they have a slot WR that is very quick as well and you can only pay so much attention to AGG. Their running game did way better than I expected and I'm not sure what to expect from it going forward.
The defense was better than I thought. They have a very good linebacker that is the brother of Jay Ajaje (however you spell). Our WRs regularly beat their secondary though.
I imagine they will be in some shootouts. I think a CUSA team that can pass very well would give them a lot of fits. I would guess FAU and North Texas would do well vs. Liberty. I haven't seen much of Marshall or UAB so don't really know.
I do not think FIU or Southern Miss would beat Liberty on a neutral field.

Really? In 2020 FIU will smoke Liberty. For the record, I think FIU is fixing to beat the brakes off ODU this weekend!! Bitter taste from last year remains.

USM and FIU is nowhere as good as the great Bobby Wilder's ODU, so naturally we would lose to LU. Probably by a score of 105-3.

We host North Texas in two weeks. Most of us expect a shootout and a NT win. Unless we’re able to beat army this week than we’ll all be drinking the KoolAid and thinking an LU win. Either way it’ll be a fun game to watch with what appears to be two great offenses.

No freken way USM would lose to Liberty this year. This was a shameful result for ODU and for the conference.
