I think the Briles hire was good, but there is a pretty big assumption that UH isn't going to fall flat on their face a couple times this year when they shouldn't. That is what Applewhite teams have done so far.

Don't believe me? Last year we rushed for 288 yds on you and only gave up 1 sack. Our line is projected to be just as good, if not better this year with 3 seniors returning. You may have Oliver, but I'd put our O-line as a unit up against anyone in the country.

Hmm. You must have a pretty good OL coach. Wonder where he's from?

Let's not overlook the fact that last year's line was pretty much Ed and little else on the d-line and we were still pretty good. 2018 comes in with of course Oliver and now we add Isaiah Chambers (Consensus 4* and #167 ESPN 300) at DE, and we have Jerard Carter back at the other DE (missed all but the last 5 games last year). I won't even get into the LB and DB corps.

Not saying that Tulsa has a bad O-line but lets do the math..... Ed is going to get double teamed more often than not. That's 2 of your 5......

Chambers will have his share of double teaming but on average he will be one on one. Let's call it 1.5 of the remaining 3.....

Leaving 1.5 o-linemen. So between Carter and whoever we blitz from the LB someone is getting in the backfield.

It's a numbers game regardless of how good you are our 3 d-linemen will warrant at the very least 4 of your o-linemen leaving only 1 to cover whoever else is coming.

On any day we aren't playing Tulsa I want them to win (it is good for the conference to have winners) it's not a hate thing it's a pure analytical approach to this.

I too look at the analytics. Even if your guys require the double teaming you say they will, you're forgetting that we often use a tight end for blocking either on the line or in the backfield. The running backs often block in pass protection as well. That's where the blitz gets picked up at.

Really, we had more trouble with Oliver batting down passes last year than we did with him, or anyone getting in the backfield. Gotta fix that.

But then a TE is not an o-lineman, and neither is a RB.......

You said your OL > our DL.

Oliver is always all over the field. LOL

You brought up blitzing LB's? And Oliver is not always on the field. We had him so wore out last year he had to take breaks.

all but 2 of your tds were directly related to turnovers....

you had 1 td the entire first half and it was a from getting the ball 1yd from the endzone....
your next td was from getting the ball at the 7yd line

That's fair enough but Oliver takes breaks (and so does everyone else....) regardless of the opponent it wasn't a Tulsa thing.

The only reason I mentioned the LB's was the fact that 3 men will occupy no less than 4 blockers. Seems to me like that means the 3 players on the defensive side are better because they require more attention.

Thus opening up opportunities for people in the LB/DB corps.
