Is Civil War on the Horizon?
According to a poll nearly 1 and 3 believe that a Civil War is imminent. I believe we are in the beginning stages at this point, and everyone needs to chill out, but wanted to hear what are y’all thoughts on this subject?

RE: Is Civil War on the Horizon?
I think we are already in a soft civil war. A civil war occurs when one political faction refuses to recognize the legitimate outcome of the elective process, and refuses to accept the resulting governance as legitimate.

We have already met that criterion.

I would hope the states would voluntarily divorce before we got to a civil war. I agree we're in for a cold or soft civil war and unrest however

The potential for civil war is certainly there, but just how would the sides align? Would it be by states/regions or by race or individually by ideology?

to expand on that thought...

if in an urban center, one has been for some time...

rural centers are still ‘hunky and dory’....

the question then becomes, “how long before the over taxed exodus comes to fruition and the impact it will have”

people with a clue know it’s coming.....is simply a matter of when...:

It might be in certain states or regions, but it wouldn’t be the state of California to try to succeed from the federal govt. which could happen. I think what you would have is Left vs. Right rioting. If the left doesn’t like certain policies put into place for example like immigration then you would have protesters raid the ICE headquarters, or for example if they do not like the policies that federal govt. we’re putting in place, example would be getting rid of food stamps, or welfare I could see forces trying to raid Congress or Social Security office. Rioting anywhere to shut down the govt.. Specially if the govt. is controlled by the right.

At that point what is the plan of action, would the right fight back, or sit ideally by while the govt. would have to take down the protesters. If that happens and gets out of hand you would have the govt. fighting its own citizens. At which point a Civil War could break out.

Look I don’t agree with this but this is how it would be done!

RE: Is Civil War on the Horizon?
I guess that when most Americans hear the phrase “Civil War”, they think about what they have been told about America in 1861-’65. (What they’ve been told is usually make-believe, but whatever.) America was a nation of ~30-31m people in 1860, and over 600,000 of them got killed in the war by the time it ended in 1865. (Proportional equivalent, given Anerica’s current population, would be ~6.5m fatalities. That doesn’t count people who survived but had arms/legs cut-off, etc.)

I just don’t believe that anything comparable to that is going to happen in our time. At most, I think you could see examples of conventional law-enforcement and other symbols of “government” simply withdrawing from areas that cannot be effectively controlled without inflicting high # of casualties. I’m thinking of large cities like Baltimore and Detroit, Chicago, etc. where police have (reportedly) just kind of stepped back from certain neighborhoods when things get too hot. I could definitely see that happening on a larger scale. Could happen in some rural areas, too. Some remote sections could just be ceded (on a de facto basis) to illegal immigrants or gangs. I’m thinking some areas of interior California as a likely place for that to happen, but not just there.

But the idea of two massive, separate armies, with their own separate capitals and separate governments, fighting an all-out war... no I think that’s about as impossible as anything could be in politics/society.

I think if the United States breaks up, it could actually be into many countries, ranging from city-states like Chicago to swaths of several contagious states:

1) Miami area
2) South Florida
3) Central Florida
4) Florida north of Daytona, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Eastern Texas, Georgia south of the Atlanta area, some parts of West Tennessee and East Tennessee
5) Atlanta area
6) Nashville area
7) Downstate Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio (may lose some areas along the Michigan and Missouri borders(
8) Chicago area
9) Memphis area
10) South Carolina
11) Charlotte
12) North Carolina
13) West Virginia and rural Virginia
14) Coastal Virginia
15) Northern Virginia, DC, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York City area, Philadelphia area, and New England
16) Central Pennsylvania and Upstate New York
17) Pittsburgh area
18) Milwaukee-Madison corridor
19) Wisconsin and Minnesota outside the Twin Cities
20) Twin Cities area
21) Saint Louis area
22) Iowa and Missouri (excluding Saint Louis and Kansas City)
23) Kansas City area
24) Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada outside of Las Vegas and Reno, Idaho, Eastern and Southwestern Oregon, Eastern Washington, and some counties in Northern California
25) Colorado, New Mexico, and the El Paso area
26) Austin-San Antonio
27) Dallas-Fort Worth
28) Houston area

No Civil War - just violence and riots by angry libs.........the same ones that threw themselves on the grocery store aisle floor to get mom to give them the candy. Mom buckled and bought the candy - they think that throwing a fit by rioting will get them a favorable result again.

3) Central Florida

And you know we're gonna hang a banner up too.

Seriously though, Tampa to Daytona, as long as you include the bay areas, all of Disney and Volusia county and the space coast, we'd be ok. (As long as we had control over much of the gulf.)

Geez. Can't believe we are actually discussing this. What have the liberals done here.)

The last time we had state or states to break away from the US was our Civil War under Lincoln's watch.

Yes, we are heading into a civil war. Our country is heading way too far to the right where it is becoming a dictator country being run by the minority.

I would love for you to point out the supposed 'dictatorial policies'. Or are you just providing evidence for me that one side 'refuses to accept the resulting government as legitimate'?

Look forward to the evidence behind your rhetoric-heavy statement. I wont hold my breath, though.

I consider Trump as a fraud and a con artist. He belongs in prison. He is not legitimate President of the USA. I would say that about Hillary Clinton as well.

Democrats appear to be down to two issues:

"Hitler"
and
"Putin"

With no proof for either.

He's going to be so disappointed when the NCAA is reorganized as the North American Collegiate Athletic Association, and West Texas A&M remains in Division II.

In all seriousness, though, if it became clear the United States was going to break up, you'd see the biggest population shift in human history, so there would be no telling how it would align. It would essentially mirror the settlement of Kansas and Nebraska during their days as territories. Both political parties would try to encourage people from states that have large majorities to resettle in potential swing states to "keep the Union together" and stop the spread of the opposing political philosophy.

Wow, you just doubled won on stupid there. I dont hand that out often, but congrats (I guess).

I wish that instead of 'ignore' feature you could color code a poster as 'utters nothing but rhetorical flourish with no substance, even when prompted for substance'......

Again, perhaps you might be able to educate us on this supposed 'dictatorship', or will this be a fastball strike over the plate again on you with no no swing?
