The only difference is that the GOP's schism (MAGA populism overthrowing neo-conservatism) brought MORE people into the party. I am confident that the democratic party's schism ("progressive" alt-leftism overthrowing neo-liberalism) will be a net negative (in a big way), pushing them further towards the coasts. The Rust Belt, North Carolina, and Florida will be gone.

They are currently in real danger of becoming the party of solely Brooklyn and San Francisco.

Erin Burnett's reaction says it all. I really liked her when she was at CNBC. She was a great financial reporter that leans left, and she is absolutely awe struck at what she is hearing from rye. She knows she can't tame the animal that is alt-leftism, and they are about to lose their party.

I heard it once put that the only candidate you'll agree with 100% of the time is yourself.

There will always be differences in opinion over the hows/whys and even over the implementation of policy. In the end, the GOP does have a base of things we all agree on. For example, even the most die hard never trumpers on the right thought Neil Gorsuch was a great choice.

The left has created a coalition of fringe groups that only care about themselves and the concerns of their particular group. The only thing that holds them together is the party that fills their head with promises, not to actually help, but to keep their votes. I don't see the illegal alien faction coming to the rescue o the LGBT wing or the abortion folks in a policy fight. Other that being fringe and being represented by democrats, they really have nothing in common.

What they left is learning is that if you live by PC, you can die by PC.

Where are these people? I see a ton of people every day and none of them, black, white, or any other shade, reflect the attitudes that these talking heads project. Someone needs to send a memo out detailing which of "us" should be offended by which of "them" because I see unfailingly polite people interacting with each other free from the constraints of racism that these idiots contend is endemic. Am I to believe that the young black man who is leaving my store telling me "thanks brother, have a great day" really means "eff you whitey, I'll slit your throat the first chance I get"? I aint buying it.

Am I to believe that the two black men initiated into one of our masonic lodges here in Memphis were initiated as tokens in an organization who, while having no official proscription against blacks joining, but in times past would never have voted as a group to include someone who was black? I prefer to believe that cooler heads prevailed and that body realized the inherent unfairness of having whites and non-blacks only as members. All it would have taken was one person in attendance at the time the vote was held to cast the black ball and they wouldn't have been voted in yet that entire body voted unanimously to buck tradition and become only the second lodge in TN to have black members. That's real progress, it may be minor in the grand scheme of things but it is progress.

I have contended the exact same thing on this board in the past.

Bottom line - there are people in the media and public eye that make their living fomenting strife between people that aren't exactly the same and dividing them into groups. They get more clicks and views (means more money) by presenting groups as divided and at each others throats.

Everyday life in America isn't what they portray unless you go into a place where the worst of the worst hang out (of any group).

I'm not saying that everything everywhere is always 100% fair - it's not, but any adult has learned long ago the life isn't always fair. 99% of people shrug it of a go on with life.

I agree. The GOP is not necessarily dumping the Evangelicals but is rather abiding by Christ's teaching of, "Let the blind lead the blind and let them follow each other into the ditch."

Bernie should not be blamed on this issue. Bernie majority of the votes came from white people while Hillary got the majority of the Minority votes. People like this Angela Rye and others are blaming Bernie and Jill Stein voters for letting Trump win the election. What Bernie did was bringing the white blue class workers back into the party until the DNC rigged the election for Hillary's win. The issue of the divide of this country start with the Clintons and with Newt and his ilk of the right.

Me, this liberal mind of mine will not allow people like Maxine Waters and Angela Rye destroy all the work that FDR, JFK and Obama that helped the middle class, the poor, the elderly and the disabled. The Clintons and their supporters have ruined the Democratic party. The ones that have been elected in red districts are different people and would push these ilk out of the DNC. If I run for Senate, and bet Tom Cotton? My goals is to run out these divisive Democrat members like Waters, Pelosi, Schumer and some others. The Democrats need a clean house keeping so that the good name of the Democratic party to be restore.
