RE: Football Class of 2019
I doubt he'll remain a QB on the college level. I suspect we'll see him change positions....unless he like really dominates at his new HS. He's been playing at a lower talent HS thus far.
Either way, he's an intriguing prospect at TE, DE, or maybe even OT down the road.

Gonna respond to both your posts here.
Re: Jordan, don't see him staying at QB. If he has agility and speed I see him at TE, could see him at OL as well. I agree with you with where you could see him moving.
I've seen the CBs for Justin Harris which would be awesome and I think probably 1 of 2 potential db's this class.
Someone to watch also is Damon Kaylor at OL, seems like he loves UC.

That would be a massive stunner. I didn't even know UC was involved.

Interesting tidbit on local stud Jowon Briggs.
I find it amusing that the picture that have makes it look like Briggs is clocking that offensive lineman. Now that's my kind of DT.

All I know is they want him to play defense in college. Happy to see another Colerain player on the team.
I'm guessing he'll play his college position in the upcoming season. Hopefully he can flash whatever potential the coaches see in him. Otherwise, this seems like a bit of a reach.

I've seen Colerain play several times the last few years. Not sure I ever really noticed he was out there. I figured he played TE only thus why I never noticed him. I'm thinking a definite project here. Maybe they like his frame and length and ability to fill out down the road.

3/3 for project type players so far this year...I like the athleticism and versatility of the group so far, but it would be nice to close on some clear cut guys rather than ones we probably won't see for 2-3 years.

Agreed, but I have faith they will come. The top tier guys rarely commit this early; last year was a bit of an anomaly with Vann and Whyle. Taylor, Thomas, and Harris (our other top 500 guys) all signed fairly late. It is going to be hard to beat last year's class, but I'm sure when it's all said and done we will be in the top 3 of the AAC.

RE: Football Class of 2019
I was looking at recruiting rankings from last year, and it's kind of interesting how the schools in our area seem to fall into a hierarchy. The fact that we are right there with multiple Big Ten and ACC schools is pretty impressive.
Tier 1: Ohio State, Penn State, Notre Dame, Michigan
Tier 2: Michigan State, Louisville, West Virginia, Kentucky
Tier 3: Cincinnati, Purdue, Indiana, Pitt
Tier 4: MAC/C-USA schools

It is pretty funny looking at the separation between Tier 3 and Tier 4. With that being said, Toledo is kind of in the middle there, year-in/year-out. Hell, most years they're closer to the Cincinnatis and Purdues of the world than any other MAC teams.

Oh last year was exceptionally anomalous with Vann and Whyle, but we still had guys like Van Fossen, Woodside, Hicks, Jackson, and Bacevich in the fold before May (all higher rated than Jones, our best recruit so far this year), so this year is a bit of a dip in the early period. We did get a ton of commitments after our summer camp in the middle of June, so I'm expecting the same to happen this year too, but we had some high quality players by this time last year, not borderline 2/3* guys who don't really have positions set.
I'm hoping we can close on Kaylor, Harris, and (selfishly) Butler here soon...that would set a significant tone for the summer.

OT: just saw Larry Cox is stepping down at West. Hopefully this opens up a door for us in recruiting — there is too much talent there.

Awesome news. Hopefully they don't hire any more Cox that push recruits away from UC.
