Either you don't know how to count, or you're making stuff up. We had more than 3 and were tied with the MAC for amount of draft picks. We also have less members than the MAC and CUSA, so what do you expect? On top of that, most Sun Belt teams had young rosters this past season with fewer seniors than previous years, so obviously a less likely chance for draft picks this year.
Really poor job of trying to talk smack.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nf...562237002/
Yeah, the author of this at USA Today can't count either. If you go and look at each round for yourself, we have 4... just as much as the MAC.
NMSU officially exited the Sun Belt on December 29th 2017. Technically they are an independent team now and that’s why all the publications will not give the Sun Belt credit for that pick.
That's the weird part. The NMSU player (Jaleel Scott) spent his whole career playing in the Sun Belt.

Not debating the comment, just that it is amusing coming from someone who refers to himself/herself in 3rd person.

Agreed. I don't view draft numbers as a sign of inherent conference superiority. Not much of a correlation imo.

People in the city of Charlotte can't tell you which division of the ACC various teams are in, much less which conference UNCC, ECU, App, etc. are in.
Pecking order in Charlotte:
- Panthers
- UNC-CH
- Duke
- NCSU
- South Carolina
- Clemson
- Hornets
G5 sports teams get the scraps around here.

Are you talking about alumni or discussions by the general public?
General public, no way Duke is below App and UNCC?
USC and Clemson get way better coverage than any NC G5 program as well.
You may be right about Hornets placement.

Well if they're panthers fans they just had a first round pick from Tech a couple years ago...so I doubt it...But I'll guarantee people in Louisiana don't know UNC Charlotte exists. I didn't until they joined CUSA.

RE: If a sunbelter says their conference is better...
CUSA is better than Sun Belt. I think the gap is much more narrow but my opinion is that the top level and reputation and performance of teams like Southern Miss, La Tech, and Marshall in football and WKU, MTSU and UAB in basketball are the main reasons. Even though this may vary a little from year to year, it is still the case.
I think the rest of the teams in the respective sports and conferences are closer and now that the SB has only 10 teams, this may give them an edge at the bottom of the conferences.
At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter which conference each respective team is in. The team's individual success outweighs the conference affiliation. Does anybody think San Jose is better than their team just because they are in the MWC? Boise alone has more clout than Boise from the MWC.
It's like when Arkansas and Vanderbilt fans chant for SEC football! It's a Loser move.

Performance really doesn't matter to anyone except for the fans of the school that performs well. It's all about money and neither conference has any so it's just sad man. The teams in CUSA that invest in themselves will have potential to go to the AAC but what does that really get you and if a school over-leverages themselves, watch out or you are an FCS playoff participant waiting to happen. For those that can think objectively, the writing is on the wall for the future of almost all teams in the G5. Maybe all of them.

To some extent, I disagree. Yes the writing is on the wall for the G5. It has been since the days of DI and DI-A. The big money conferences are always going to try and exclude the lower funded conferences. But as long as we still compete at the highest level of college football, we have opportunities to grow into something more.
You may think C-USA universities are investing to move to the AAC, but I would argue that that is short sighted. We have a good collection of programs already. The universities that are investing in their programs will likely emerge as the conference flagships and often beat those AAC programs you think we wish to join. I don't want to join the AAC. I want C-USA to elevate our programs and challenge them as the best among the G5.
