Warm Days Hot Seats
As the sub zero temperatures subside let's talk about conference coaches (all sports) on hot seats, either this season or the next 2 or 3 if they don't get it turned around.

RE: Warm Days Hot Seats
For football, I'd say only the Texas State head coach is on the hot seat. Everyone else is new or meeting / exceeding expectations.

Football:
Butt is stuck on Ice: Neal Brown, Scott Satterfield, Shawn Elliot
Room Temperature Seat: Joe Moglia, Matt Viator
On a lukewarm seat: Blake Anderson
Getting Warm: Everett Withers
Hot Seat: None

Not seated yet/TBD: Steve Campbell, Chad Lunsford, Billy Napier

Have a feeling Withers will survive unless the season is a complete disaster.

What will take for the new coaches to feel the pressure? Lunsford is rebuilding, but I have a feeling that Campbell and Napier are expected to generate at least 6win seasons right away due to the roster they inherited

IMO, Southern and South should expect to get bowl eligible, but UL might need to do some rebuilding...

Georgia Southern’s seat is permanently hot, let’s be real.

lets just say expectations for billy Napier is 6 wins at the very least. hud got 6 and 5 his last 2 season and everything seems to have improved in the areas of coaching and players, even at this early stage! the rebuilding UL has to do is to get to the 10+ win seasons.

I think most South fans will be disappointed with less than 6 wins. Joey Jones usually got us there, and he was admired by most of the Mobile area, even when we struggled. Campbell needs to win and win fairly quickly (in 2-3 years he should be contending for a SBC championship).

Soooooo, you don't see Everett (Brother Bill) Withers on the hot seat, huh. . ..

You're certainly entitled to your opinion. After posting back to back 2-10 seasons, I personally think that he needs to Coach this year like his AZZZZZZZZZZZ is on Fire.

If Satterfield’s seat ever gets warm, we’ll get him a new seat.

Warm Days Hot Seats
In basketball Jim Fox's (app state) seat is starting to get warm. He came in with bare cupboards and hasn't been able to produce any consistent results.

I expect Napier to go for 2.

RE: Warm Days Hot Seats
I actually don't even think Withers's seat is getting warm. He signed a 5 year contract. We historically never terminate early cause we're either too poor or too lazy. And we have an AD that nobody has any confidence in to make a good replacement hire should we let him go, I don't even think Teis has confidence in himself to. Plus he's lazy and that would mean he'd have to work harder next year which he doesn't want.

Barring a scandal or maybe an 0-12 or 1-11 type season I think Withers's seat is Luke warm at worst in 2018.

All that being said, I personally wouldn't advocate his firing at the end of year 3 either barring disaster. We should start to see some pay-off soon if the burn-it-to-the-ground-and-rebuild-from-scratch approach actually works. Just be significantly better in 2018 than 2017 and leave us believing 2019 should be another significant jump and recruit well and Withers may still have a shot at being successful at TXST.

My fear is you guys fire Withers and then hire KC Keeler (which IMO would be smart for Texas State), and then Sam Houston State will come after Bob DeBesse (our OC).

South is my dark horse. Assuming the coach is as good as some think and I believe, he will turn it quickly. The reason is you have the talent on hand for the upside and the right coach will make that talent hum like a fine tuned engine. Thank Jones for his contributions and forget him. You have taken the right step to a good future.

IMO (and most other South fans), our O-line is the question mark. If he can fix that group, we will have early success. If not, it'll take a couple years to get rolling.

Keeler was named by the media as a candidate when we hired Withers. Not sure if he truly was or not though.

DeBesse is an ex-TXST head coach.

They certainly got the best hire of the three new ones. I would say that ULM is the dark horse though. But really, is ULM actually a dark horse, or are they a straight up contender?

If they can keep the defense in tact, I can see 7 or 8 wins for South. The offense was terrible, and they have one of the best in the game (head coach's offensive philosophy). That divide will pay big dividends early.

I don't disagree with anything you're saying . . . . Clearly our AD and University will put no pressure/heat on EW.

But this is a guy that came in saying that Fan was short for Fanatic. That we shouldn't be patient, that he wouldn't be either. Well, he's had two years, and posted back to back 2-10 seasons. Time to put up . . .

Dude needs to Coach this year like his AZZZZZZZ is on fire . . . Heat (and lack thereof) from the U and AD be damned.
