That means that the AAC has now cracked the top 10 in football, basketball (Men's & Women's) & now baseball just this year (2018). Certainly no G4 conference has done that & I'm not really sure if all the power conferences have accomplished that feat this year.

Haha. Don't believe in jinxes. Overconfidence maybe. This is the way to do it. Last season we started out top 10 and how did that work out? The boys should be good if they keep that gritty determination. Nose to the grindstone.

Collegiate Baseball is really a joke but I included them just to be fair I guess. They drop ECU a spot for going 4 of 5 this past week including a cross continental series win @ Washington and midweek wins over 2 quality ball clubs. Meanwhile, UNC (a team we dominated) catapults past us from #30 to #12 even though they lost to an unranked Miami team yesterday that has a lower RPI than Washington. Also, Illinois moves ahead of us after only taking 2 of 3 against Maryland (a team we destroyed all 3 games against). Moreover, Texas & Michigan jump from outside the top 30 to rise above us. I know that poll doesn't really matter but they are super biased against ECU for some reason.

If someone has the time to research, I'd be interested in knowing if every other P6 conference has accomplished this. It goes without saying, no G4 is even close.

No SEC school finished in the top 15 in basketball and Kentucky had already fallen out of top 10 by Jan 1st. Tenn never climbed higher than 13th. So scratch the almighty SEC off the list right there. No PAC 12 team even finished in the final top 25 Coaches poll in basketball but looks like Zona cracked the AP poll top 10 in late Jan/early Feb at #9.

No PAC 12 school finished in the top 10 in football in the AP but USC held on to #10 in the coaches poll.

No Big 10 team finished in the top 15 in Women's basketball but Ohio St. cracked it a few months or so ago at #8.

In baseball, Indiana is overrated IMHO but they have barely cracked the top 10 at times this season in at least one poll (currently # 10 in D1).

Even crazier is the fact that they didn't even sweep the U. ECU went to the other side of the continent and beat a U-dub squad that has a higher RPI than Miami & we drop in their rankings. It really is a complete joke. ECU murdered UNC 12-0 in our rubber match with them in Chapel Hill but this one poll wants to forget about that.

Here's the skinny since 2010 counting this year:
NCSU has 14 games. 5 home and homes, 2 @ Greenville and 2 @ Raleigh. So that's fair.
Duke has 5 games. 1 home and home, 1 @ Greenville and 2 @ Durham. Maybe next year will balance.

It's fine to look at all these polls but the only ones that the NCAA recognizes are: USA Today Coaches Poll, Baseball America, D1, & NCBWA (see link below as those are the only 4 its site provides to scroll through along with RPI which ECU currently ranks 9th in). Not surprisingly, those all have ECU ranked between #7-11. Meanwhile the 2 outliers have ECU at #16 & 19 respectively. Therefore, it's apparent that the real credentialed voters are giving ECU their due.

Just updated to include RPI. Several things stand out. For one, I didn't realize UCONN's RPI was that high. They still have time to make some noise. Also, I know it's early but it's interesting that both UH & Cincy are tied with ECU for the best conference winning percentage although they represent 2 of the bottom 3 RPI's in the league. Both having played and swept Memphis has a lot to do with that but both teams will be halfway through the conference season after this weekend.

ECU & WSU look to be in good shape. With UCONN's high RPI they also appear to be in fairly good shape. USF & UCF have work to do but they're easily capable of it with a little more consistency, considering where they stand RPI wise. UH could still make a run at an at-large bid but has to really play well down the stretch with such a low RPI. It would almost take a miracle for Tulane to turn it around with their win-loss record right now & a miracle couldn't even save Memphis at this point.

Cincy is an anomaly to me. When I look at their schedule it doesn't look that bad but somehow their RPI is so low. I know it's just one game but I see they even have a W over top 10 Indiana, they beat Cal earlier in the year as well, and here they sit atop the conference standings almost halfway through. It'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out down the stretch.

There is no "could be", if we stay on the same track we are hosting and will get a National Seed. Win the Regional and we'll be hosting a Super Regional. Our fate is in our hands at this point.

Long ways to go though. This is a tough conference.
