THAT is where my problem with the argument from your side is.... I'd be HAPPY to implement common sense restrictions that would justify themselves by showing a high likelihood of efficacy. Instead what we usually get is laws designed to take guns away from/cause issues for/disincentives to ownership for people who never have and likely never would misuse firearms and have little to no impact on those responsible for the issues that we're trying to address.

Depends. I just got back from Western PA and I can't tell you how many Trump bumper stickers I've seen that didn't necessarily come from the redneck contingent. You also have a lot of "Gun Control is using two hands" types out there.

IMO, you never want to tie yourself too hard to an organization because you don't want to be associated with it if something extreme happens. If it turns out that Wayne LaPierre has been diddling kids or something, you don't wanna be the guy in the store with a NRA hat on.
