Frank I hope he proves u wrong, for all of our sakes.

My hope is that he’s gotten much better and creates major separation from the other QB’s or that Rodney Hall is too much of a playmaker to keep off the field.... We need a spark on that offense badly.....

Maybe Rodney can be incorporated into the offense. Wild Cat or something. I'm glad that Marcus is okay.

Bummed that JJ has moved on. Thats a dagger to my heart. Love that kids energy.

SMU is a lateral move. I would think just about anyone out there would give him a scholarship for his final year. Big name school that ups his NFL stock. Actually, can't blame the kid.

If he had another year at NIU like he had last year, his draft stock would have been through the roof. Not sure if his NFL future would get a boost by playing for Bama, Georgia, or Texas next year.

Yes, but look at the teams we beat. They were all bad teams. We didn't beat a single team with a winning record and go the doors blown off us by a 6-6 team in the bowl game last season.

Im not really expecting to beat good teams with a freshman QB like Childers or a below average QB like Graham. Most all of the better teams we played had better Qbs than us. That will get you the loss more often than not. Add on to that the fact that most of our games vs better teams were on the road.

When you suck at QB you have to hang around that .500 mark until you get that position fixed.

Who's draft stock has ever gone through the roof at NIU? Since 2012, 5 players from NIU have been drafted (3 in the 7th round). He is still an undersized linebacker at 6'0" and 218 pounds. Most schools have safeties bigger than him. If he goes to a bigger school and shows that he can play safety, then he might actually get drafted.

Our best games last year were the win against Nebraska, the loss to SDSU, and the loss to BC. Nebraska quit on the coaching staff after the end of the game loss to a solid NU team. Regardless of thier record they had a ton of talent. The MAC, as the bowl games showed, was weak last year.

I guess these articles from yesterday, which it seems noone cared to read or acknowledge, where they actually mentioned Childers are are a little more credible than the grade school girl gossip.

And we wonder why people get turned off this board, why there is alienation to be had. Once again, a story where players get called out by name, insinuations made and nothing comes of it, not to mention proof. Now it's of record in cyberspace for all to see and wonder for themsleves. Congrats to all involved.

Here's the thing though, the last three years NIU has played:

at (#1) Ohio State
vs (UR) San Diego State
at (#19) San Diego State
(UR) Wyoming
(UR) Boise State
at (UR) Boston College
vs (UR) Boston College
at (#19) South Florida
at (UR) Nebraska
(UR) Duke

NIU has never played so many relevant college football teams over a three year span (except for when they were an independent punching bag). To come away from this just over .500 (with six separate quarterbacks) is impressive. There have been very high peaks and extremely low valleys (WIU), but NIU remains a solid (dare I say sleeping giant?) program.

What's our record in those? I'll think like 2 wins? Hardcore niu fans love losses vs good teams.

He was suspended from team activities in the winter (the source were his current teammates). It now appears he has been reinstated.

No one likes losses. If NIU wants respect, they have to play teams like the ones they have been (it will elevate the program). As a fan, I'd rather have NIU lose to relevant teams, than play Presbyterian, Army, and bottom-feeder B1G schools.

Getting blown out by the big boys does absolutely nothing for us either, except getting more media exposure for the blow out.

I do not like the tone taken here as anything I have ever shared including the fact that Childers was not allowed to participate with team activities since the bowl game are not insinuations they are FACTS and FACTS shared to me directly from multiple teammates currently on the roster and who have no reason to lie !

The FACT Childers was taken off suspension and allowed to practice for the first time with the team on Tuesday does not take away the FACT that he was suspend all winter! It also does not discredit me or anything else I have and or might share in the future !

If the board would rather not hear anything that is going on that I get directly from the players on this team that's fine but I think the FACT that our starting QB was not aloud to be with the team all winter is an interesting FACT that I thought people would want to know about

Thanks

Keep the FACTS coming, Randy. A few on this board don't like any news - even factual - that is in any way negative. If what you report is positive, they will kiss you anywhere you'd like.

I would love it if you continued to post some inside stuff regarding the football team.

Obviously some other poster(s) does(do) not understand what a message board is truly for. If we cannot speculate things going on behind the scenes then what will we be talking about all year or even just the offseason? I see multiple people on here bashing STF and Carey (Which is perfectly fine if you feel that way) but we cannot speculate things with players when it comes to whether they will play or not? Talk about being a hypocrite.

Congrats to all involved.

I also want to say, contrary to what you claim, I actually heard the reason he got suspended (from 1 player), but CHOSE not to share it as I did not want to share something I was not certain about and therefore would be considered slander.

However, Childress not being at winter activities is not slander as atleast 3 teammates confirm this and can easily be found out if it was true since he either was there or was not. Just find 1 out of 100 teammates or coaches and ask.
