Best guess I can make is they weren't as engaged as they should have been. Maybe it's because they were working full time and expected their representatives to actually serve on their behalf. Most of this occurred prior to the days of social media so they didn't have instant access to information. Heck, back then they only had access to information sanctioned by the state-controlled MSM machine.

As the rad left took over all levels of our education system this nation's value system moved farther left.

And honestly, I blame Republicans for this.

The Democrats have done what they wanted to do. The Republicans are doing nothing to stop them.

As of August 2017 the GOP had complete control of 26 states (gov, house, senate).

In Tennessee, one of those complete-Red states, my GOP state senator chairs the state education committee. Guess what, she was one of the first ones to sign up on Obama's Race To The Top common core fiasco. Why? $$$$$$$$

I can't tell you how many times we went to her town halls expressing our dissatisfaction with her education decisions.
