Basketball Identities
Here's the perception of the AAC hoops programs around the country. I think its good to EMBRACE the perception and go with what works. What do you think? Am I close?
Cincy-smothering D, athletes > shooters
Uconn- hired Jim Calhoun Jr circa 1984.
Memphis- 5 star streetball, baby!
Wichita- 6'7" shooters galore
Temple- Losing with dignity
SMU- lob dunks and a one-man bench
Houston- RUN
Tulsa-Are they good? Are they terrible? A team of constant JUCO transfers? No one knows
UCF/USF/Tulane/ECU - not included. Outside of their fanbases, these teams are literally never thought of when you mention basketball. No pedigree.
Thoughts?

Man .. most of our 6'7 guys have been horrible shooters lol. 6'5-6'7 was a dead zone for shooters. 6'4 and under has been good and 6'8 to 6'9 has been good lol

UCF can be the "sleeping giant" of the conference. The facilities are there, it is a good recruiting state, just got to keep building....

RE: Basketball Identities
Probably more like the below..
Cincy - legit, great coach, good every year
UConn - they suck, made a great hire
Memphis - have they even played bball since Cal left?
Whichita - b*^&*#$ about OVC, got an at large bid finally and soiled themselves, overrated
Temple - were good in the 80s and 90s, John Chaney and Bill Cosby
SMU - need Larry Brown back
Houston - great football program
Tulsa - ......
UCF - when is football season?
USF - when is football season?
Tulane - New Orleans
ECU - what happened to their football team?
Until we actually do some damage in the tourney no one thinks twice about us, except for Cincy

5 Star Streetball got us a run to the National Championship Game that the NCAA liked so much that they put a star next to it.

RE: Basketball Identities
Cincinnati: Sustains itself off of bloated preseason hype despite average recruiting classes by national standards, and despite not having won anything since the early 1960's. All hype. No threat to anyone outside of the AAC. Guaranteed to make the tournament pretty much every year, but also guaranteed to exit prior to the Sweet 16 pretty much every year. They get used up in the 2nd round most years like a $5 hooker.
That cover it?

Let's see, Cal left in 2009. Memphis went to 4 straight NCAATs from 2011-2014. We also won a handful of conference reg season and tourney titles after Cal left, and a couple of NCAAT games.
So yeah, we're still playing basketball. And about to get a lot better soon. Maybe take one more year.
And football ain't shabby, either.

Yeah...
Yeah I guess it does.
Why do you have to be so mean about it? I'm giving honest assessments here.

Nailed Tulsa to the T.......U.......
As a fan it's very frustrating to figure out how our team will be when half the players are JUCO. They tore up Junior College but that doesn't mean that will translate to D-1.

Bloated preseason hype that resulted in winning the conference, conference tournament, and only losing 5 games all year.
Yep, complete hype.

Except that all of our bids in the MVC were at large except for 14' and 17'.

Yes. That's why I said the second part was right. We soiled ourselves and were overrated this year
