Any two of those would boost our BBall program (not making it a 2 bid league at first, but could become that easily enough).
I'd like the Belt to add FGCU and either Murray St./UNO as of yesterday. But that's just me.
all cheesy regional schools that would for sure reinforce the perception of the sbc as small time. we are better off with none of those those and work on raising what we have to a more competitive level.
Agree. None of those. We have decent universities and credible sports as is. No watering down.
Scared of Murray, Belmont and Lipscomb? All would greatly boost SBC hoops.
As would UNCG while creating a true travel partner.
Arguable points, but valid ones. Here's a question, Do the current Oly only schools benefit the belt enough? This is not meant to be a dig, but I generally think of the future of the SBC as all sports teams, but if you throw in non-football schools which 2(or 4) would you include? Lets say in fantasy land all but the P5 conferences disolve in 2019 and everyone is looking to start fresh in new conferences. Who would you include in the new CUSA and SBC?

Nope, said many times before. Also that version has the division stretched from Va to Fl. Its a joke.

So the Arkansas schools and Tech aren’t in the ArkLaTex division? Seems like an odd name for it. Also having USA in a conference with “USA” in the name could get confusing

Can we now junk the idea of reorganizing the SBC and CUSA regionally?
Reading the CUSA board, getting a kick out of the notion that if MWC finally poaches UTEP from them that they can "call up" Louisiana, stAte, or Troy. Bless their hearts.

I don't think CUSA and SBC should merge.
The top fb programs (outside of TX) should get together and just form a new conference:
Troy, USM, USA, FAU, Marshall, Ark St, LA Tech, ULL, MTSU, WKU + 2 more (App St and maybe GA St because of potential and the Atlanta market)

I think it’s pretty evident that TV contract money for G5 conferences will not be a viable source of revenue for G5 conferences in the future. Ticket sales, donations, and expense control will be what rules the day for us going forward.
In the coming months, I imagine many clandestine meetings will be taking place between officials from universities that are indeed interested in the formation of such a conference. I can see things working out quite well for some, but not so much for others.

If I had to choose a new conference from scratch, it would likely be :
APP, Troy, South Alabama, Marshall, MTSU, WKU, ODU, Georgia Southern, FAU, Southern Miss, Arkansas State, and let Charlotte and Ga State duke it out for the 12th team in a playoff
I know that this does not save much travel but I like the potential strength of most of this conference.

Nice l guess GSU could take the schools abandoned by armchair commissioners and form a new league with FAU, FIU, Charlotte, UAB, ODU, 5 Texas schools+ NMSU. Actually this league sounds great.

You guys are pooh poohing the TV revenue but fail to see how insignificant travel cost savings will be.
With all of the Sun Belt East teams being able to reasonably bus to each other, travel cost savings would probably be even less than the value of the TV contract.

I don't think travel is that big of a deal. Travel becomes a big problem if you are moving to a league with similar TV revenue to our own and worse travel. Its highly unlikely an SBC team outside of Texas State would accept a CUSA invite. However, if the AAC or MWC called, most of us would jump in a heart beat.

If you are starting from scratch and don't want to wait for auto bids your "start from scratch" new conference either needs 7 CUSA members or 7 Sun Belt members and can start in 2020 if you don't use WKU to make your 7 (then it would be 2021) or Coastal to make your 7 (then it would be 2023)
I don't think there is any grouping of seven Sun Belt ready to walk as a group. Not sure that is true of CUSA, wouldn't be at all shocked if CUSA East walked and maybe took UAB or even USM with them and found some Sun Belt willing to join.

Haven't you noticed that? It's pretty consistent with any other fantasy realignment post: No one associates their own school with the F_U's, it's always other schools.
Nobody wants to be anywhere near the Toxic Twosome, and neither do I (hopefully our admin agrees).

I agree. FAU did really well in football last year under Kiffin but that flash in the pan aside, I haven’t really seen anything from either school recently that makes me think the 9+ hour drive across the state of Florida is worth it.
