Piece of **** just like the rest. You cannot have it both ways. If it's unfair, but you jump to join in, then you are a thief and a liar just like they are.

Not all, but most. Marshall should have hired Mike or Dan D'Antoni in 1994. And I believe both would still be there if so. The only way Mike would have left is if the NBA then came calling (He took the PHO job in 2005). Dan on the other hand would have been a coaching legend right now and had many NCAAs by now. I truly believe that if Dan would have been hired in 1994 (Billy Donnavan) or 2004 (Ron Jirsa) Marshall would be on par with at least Wichita State is right now.

Rick Byrd of Belmont talking on a local radio station on how the selection committee does a great job. Not sure what his m.o. is but he is part of The problem for Mid majors.

Hopefully Nevada or a mid major conference winner makes a Final 4 run this year. It is about due to happen again and there aren't any teams this year that are head and shoulders better than the rest.

Kennedy was the lowest paid coach in the SEC. There are probably only a handful of jobs he would leave for and I just don't see Ole Miss being one of those - especially since he said no to Miss State's offer.

Who can blame him for leaving? He did all he could at MTSU, was ranked and still got zero respect and a 3rd seed in NIT....If you cannot win against system you might as well join the system, he knows at MTSU you have to go 30-1 and even then NCAA bid would be a question if lost in tournament...

Apparently, you didn't read on before posting. A couple of weeks ago I believe this to be true. After Sunday, everything has changed. The NCAA didn't just snub MT. It was the way they did it and the comments made from the committee. It was a direct message back to our program that they see what we are doing and what we have going and they intend to stop it. It was a direct message that we don't want you or your kind here. No more Butlers. You could almost here that echoing from the chambers. Kermit got the message. I've never seen him this visibly upset. It wasn't just because his team didn't get in. It was because of what this means for the future. It was because he got the message loud and clear. It has always been difficult for mids to get in but never this hard. And the NCAA has now come right out and said it that they are going to continue to marginalize non power accomplishments in favor of power conferences.

If you are a coach like Kermit who demands excellence and wants to achieve excellence how can he now do that at a non power? A couple of weeks ago we all believed he could. He believed he could. That's why he turned down an offer from his alma mater (Miss St) a few years ago. That's why there is no way I thought he would leave, but what we believed two weeks ago now appears impossible. So, what is he to do?

I especially take exception to someone calling him a POS. He is probably one of the classiest individuals of anyone associated with this conference. That was classless comment. Kermit has a special needs daughter so - if now realizing the NCAA is going screw schools like ours as a matter of policy going forward why not go make three times the money, take care of his family and get to enjoy coaching along the way.

Power and greed are taking all of the enjoyment out of sports. Not much left to look forward to when it comes to athletics.

Fans always talk about loyalty, but are usually full of ****.

If any of us were offered double money to take another job, there's a 99% chance we would take it. Especially if we have families. Coaches are no different.

Mike may have left for the NBA but if Dan would have got the job in 1994 (Billy Donovan Hired) he would have elevated the basketball program by 2000. And our basketball would look totally different today.

Dan would have never left as he has always said the Marshall HCing job was his dream job. Dan's mentor and later friend Dr Heagly who died on Southern Airways 932 always told Dan that one day he would be HC at Marshall, it took about 45 years later than what he thought though.

Very VERY well written. And sorrow mood taken afterwards. The Raiders and fans deserve much better.

And I think you are right about the politics ... it is not going to get any better for those outside the P5 (and Big East).

I never would have said this a few year ago but I believe its time....Power Conference go have your own tournament and everyone else needs to have their own tournament....See if the ratings take a hit with zero Cinderella's....I think its the only thing we can do at this point, like many have said it will get worse and worse....I really want to see one of our teams go like 30-2 and somehow lose in tournament finals, I guarantee you the committee would not take that team and give some other excuse, we will never win any arguments when it comes to money...

I really hope a non-Gonzaga midmajor makes a Final Four run this year. That would be poetic justice. Marshall, Murray State, South Dakota State, Nevada, Charleston, New Mexico State... someone please catch lightning in a bottle.

Their fans are more deluded than any fan base I’ve ever run across. They run up a big record every year beating up on OVC tomato cans and OOC tomato cans. Then get to the tourney and have never made a Sweet 16.

This year any of our top 5 could have won the OVC. Murray could not have won CUSA. They’re probably going to be invited to the MVC. They got picked over last year but the conference is still looking to add more and Murray is probably next on their list. I can’t wait until they get in and find out those tomato cans are gone. The MVC is a very good 1 bid conference. Murray has had fits winning the OVC tourney. They will crash and burn in their new conference and I’ll enjoy every loss.
