AAC Tournament Announced Attendance Figures for Day 1 & 2
Session 1
SMU vs UCONN and usf vs Memphis
Announced Attendance (don't laugh): 7,856

Session 2
Tulane vs Temple and ECU vs UCF
Announced Attendance (huge boost from all the Tulane fans): 7,918

NOTE: All 8 cars that were parked in the Arena attached parking garage took awhile to clear out but most got out within 20 mins or so.

Embarrassing that the day session had the same number of fans as the night session with the host school.

You obviously didn't watch any of the games....those numbers were just "made up".

They were probably "tickets sold" instead of "butts in seats." Either way zdiddy is right.

Yeah, that place wasn't anywhere near 1/3 full; 2,000 looked more like it.

Fricking looked like a bush league. The Shock fam were the only ones to show up.

I haven't seen that few people in such a large building since attending an old Roller Hockey game back in 95'.

That's sad. I was planning on being there but I have to go to Orlando in May for my daughter's competitive cheer competition at ESPN Wide World of Sports. Couldn't get the time off of work for both. And they don't make a doghouse big enough for me had I gone to this tourney instead.

I will be there when it hits Fort Worth along with 3000-5000 other shocker fans lol.

I've seen better attendance at a church bazar and senior citizen night bingo at the Y.

I think last night was the rowdiest crowd I've seen since that historic Roller Derby match between the Renegades & the Pioneers back at that faithful night in 11973 at the Hammond, Indiana Civic Center.

Will UCF fans show up tonight. You guys should at least have 8,000 fans or so for the tournament game on a Friday night against Houston

Well, now we know that about 6,000 Wichita State fans bought whole-tourney passes this year. Good job, South Dakotans.

There could not have been 1000 in the entire arena last night for Tulane Temple. It was a ghost town.

If not maybe they can pick up some cheap ones outside the arena from the 20 or so Tulsa fans who bought em.

If its like most conference tourneys each school would have been required to buy at least a couple of hundred tickets. I'm sure those are all included in the announced attendance whether the schools were able to sell them all of not.

Correct. The local paper noted that the tournament needed to sell approx 10,000 tickets per day to make a profit...which a majority of those required tix purchases by each school. (City doesn't care if the tournament loses money since they own the arena).

So sad. Orlando should not get it again for years. UCF fans just don't get excited about basketball yet. Maybe we can give them college credit for showing up. I'm sure it could be tied into some curriculum like the study of crowd dynamics or the lack thereof. Hopefully, one day that will change.

What will change is the AAC putting events like this in NBA arenas. Many AAC schools don't even sell out their much smaller arenas.
