I'll answer for everyone...NO. Everyone will be pissed if we get bounced in the first round.

Whew, it's a good thing we can't lose in the first round.

Not immediately, but if he wins 20 games by the end of next season they will. Its the same cycle every year.

Yep. I agree. Happened this year too and I know the season isnt over yet and NCAAT is still a possibility but really feel like there were more people saying NCAAT or BUST and now people have retracted those ideas.

Yep. That is the frustrating part. So many of those folks are now indignant about any poster that still holds the same position that they held a year ago.

This is why I personally wouldn't mind seeing a little restriction of free speech around here. And I'm kidding about that really but listen, you were talking about basketball and coaching and NCAAT and expectations and I guess this post could be seen as still related to expectations but really it's just the beginnings of useless poo flinging that could last for pages and pages. I'm going to take this post as an invitation for an airing of grievances and announce that man there's a lot of windbags in here. If I cared more I'd make a chart relating the game threads length to the teams success. They're inversely related. So that's it. For the record, last year I said to give JJ two more years to get to the tourney I might be willing to tack on one extra depending but after that it'll have been too long. So come call me out in 2020 if I change my tune. mturn out. Go Monarchs!

I am in the camp of those with changed minds...we won a bunch of games this year, our recruiting is starting to improve, and we played an uptempo style and even saw some changes on the defensive end (addition of the 1-3-1 and 3-2). Those were major sticking points for me in previous years...the one item that remains is the NCAA bid. I feel that the other factors listed will lead to that last one and am willing to give just a bit more time (assuming those other factors continue to improve).

I wouldn't call myself indignant about those who still want a change at HC...I just don't like how it permeates the discussion in just about every thread, even when we have a great game it seems to be there, and ESPECIALLY if we lose one. I don't want to lose either - and I certainly want to see us in the tournament.

Frankly, it mostly permeates every thread because someone has to start taunting the folks who are tired of Jones every time we beat the 278th best team in the country.

I'm still of the belief that if he doesn't make it he needs to be let go. I don't give a damn if Michael ******* jordan is red shirting on the bench.

Wood selig needs to go, regardless of how this conference tournament goes.

I agree, there are people at fault on that side of the house as well. In either case, his job status shouldn't come up in every single game thread, but it does. To me it is a much more nuanced discussion than any single game result can display.

Honestly though, other than what happens on the court, what else is there to talk about right now? There are only so many aspects of our men's basketball program that we can discuss before coming back to the coach...

and It aint like we've got a football stadium to discuss

This team is the highest rated team we have had since 2011. So, I understand if you are on the first Jones at all costs without an NCAA tourney appearance then you don't want to hear that, but having that level of success (along with a strong recruiting class) is a decent reason for people to change their minds if they want.

I don't know if I would say I changed my mind. It's always a bummer missing Selection Sunday, and this year would be no exception should it happen.

But with the quality of recruits coming in, maybe an NIT birth buys JJ a little more time, especially if we can make a nice run and land a good big man transfer for next season.

But the above scenario is worst case for this season. I want an NCAA bid.

And there were perusing that 175th preseason CBS ranking as a reflection of "where this team is at," but, fail to give credit when the team is over 100 spots higher than that.

The credit is given when we make the NCAA tournament. No sooner than that. I dont care that we're better than our pre season prediction I want us to be good enough to get in the damned tournament.
