Lol. Enjoy your foosball. Drexel hasn't lost a game or been thrown out of a conference since 1973, that's 44 straight claimed National Titles and we do it without losing money.

RE: Always A Dragon - Empty Seats at the DAC
I don't think Drexel has claimed any national titles. Just being undefeated.
I have no complaints yet with the trajectory of the on-court product. At a school like Drexel you're not going to jump from worst to first in a year. Perhaps if they take a step back next year we can have that discussion, but the off-court stuff is what's within reach if the university chooses to make a commitment. I'd have to believe that a change in off-court mentality also improves the mentality of the on-court product. Create a culture of being competitive in the market.

Ultimately if our athletic department think Drexel is going to sell itself, we are completely misinformed. It takes work and a lot of it to build something and then it takes a lot of effort to maintain. We did quite a bit of work in the past, and then failed on the maintaining once we had something. Now we have to do at least twice the effort to build from the bottom up again. Yes timing hurts this some but overall effort and energy invested in building it has to happen. Getting people who dont care to care about something is not easy and never has been. It can be done though.

No, see, if you finish undefeated, you claim a National Title. That's what UCF did, and it's why there are 255 claimed national football titles. We haven't lost in 44 years, ergo we claim 44 national titles and are the most successful football program in history.

Right. You need to hit a critical mass where the next leadership group is constantly trying to outperform their predecessors in terms of success. Where failure becomes stigma. I think we were really close to achieving that, not sure where the breakdown was. Obviously the on court product didn't help. I'd encourage the DACPack next year to all show up with signs and hold them high during the games. Maybe that'll help get the other students up on their feet.

Did we really not send the pep band to the tourney this year?

That is correct, they were not in Charleston. They were at senior day for the women's team as they clinched the regular season title.

If that's the excuse, it's pretty pathetic. Get together an alumni band, for crying out loud. Or pay the DU Jazz Ensemble to come in and sight read "Celebrate Good Times," I know they can handle it.

Almost every single program loses money, but our books say we break even. I'm sure Under Armour is banging down the door to pay $30M to outfit Drexel like they are Temple, right?

Just breaking even now that the program has reached an all-time high, before spending all the money to build and maintain a stadium!
Don't deflect this on us, we're not the ones trying to waste public dollars wrecking the local community. All we want is the administration to budget for t-shirts and soft pretzels for our student section. MAYBE try to hire a coach with a winning record.

You can't wreck a community that is already wrecked. North Philly would be Fallujah without Temple.

RE: Always A Dragon - Empty Seats at the DAC
I know we are getting off topic here since the thread is supposed to be about Drexel not drawing fans...
My opinion leans toward the Drexel fans on this one. I really don't see the cost benefit of a new football stadium for Temple. The Linc is better and nicer than most college football stadiums in the country and a lot nicer than anything that Temple could build for $100 million. I find it ridiculous that the Eagles are charging so much rent for Temple to use the Linc. This is where the politicians need to step in and mediate with the Eagles to make it affordable for Temple to use it. Heck, I honestly think that they should be putting turf in the Linc and using it a lot more than they do.
Temple Football is what it is...a solid team in a good, but not great Division I conference. They're never going to compete for a National Championship. They're only going to compete to play in 2nd rate bowl games. That's not going to change whether they play on campus or in the Linc. Also, the Linc is easily accessible to everyone including the Temple community. The infrastructure around Temple's campus can barely handle 10,000+ crowed at the Pete, let alone 35,000+ football crowds. The area can't handle all of those people at one time.

i'm also surprised the band didn't go to charleston. it's an insult to the players. maybe they don't care at all...which is entirely possible...but it would make me feel a little lonely if i played for the only team that didn't bother sending a band along.
it would be interesting if a current or recent dac pack alum was lurking out there to comment. it always seemed to be passed from one class to the next. looking around the dac this year is like visiting a dac pack museum with reps from those classes scattered around. when did that end? what changed?
spiker makes more of an effort than bruiser ever did by bringing them on the court before the game. it's a great tradition.

Might be time to start a petition, Fry only cares about the Squash program.

Who cares if they weren't there? They can't be at two places at one time. The administration decided that they should be at the WBB home game for senior day. Then they'll be needed at the DAC on Thursday, and hopefully, Friday and Saturday too. I'm guessing that all 10 schools will not bring their bands to Philadelphia this week either.

i guess i think of the caa tournament as a place to showcase your product to the league. could you ever imagine vcu or gmu showing up without the peppas or green machine?
it would be a reward of sorts for the band too. they play a huge role in creating a good atmosphere...which will bring people back to games.

Having been at a school which recently won the NC, and a school undergoing a $300M+ renovation of its football stadium, you have no idea what you are talking about.
If you don't see the value of an on-campus football stadium, I can understand it since you're a Drexel person.
