Seinfeld once made a joke that only men would want to not only go to the moon, but bring a car (okay, rover - probably didn't even have cupholders) to drive around on it. LOL never thought about it that way.

Only hesitation I'd have about colonizing Mars is that it would be harder to determine if life started separately on Mars. You can sterilize spacecraft - not so much humans.

Unless the next generation of aeronautical engineering and physics majors at university minor in women's studies, this is a non-starter. Humanity will eventually colonize and exploit anything it wants in this solar system and it will not feel bad about it.

Musk and company want to know what is up there and to be frankly honest, if I had the option to, I would be willing to leave on a one way trip as long as I had the opportunity to see if the conspriacy theories about Mars are true or not.

Let the women go to Mars, men have done all the heavy lifting with less computing power than a cell phone. Weve left our footprints in space. They need to step up. Maybe they can even get a Corvette. I didnt go to the moon but at least I had a Corvette, maybe they can at least do that.

Mars will be nothing more than a strip mine and gas refinery/storage. Just wait until Man can start pumping Hydrogen from Jupiter or harvesting carbon from Venus. We will turn some of these Moons and Dwarf planets into full fledged planets.
