Like I said, I've seen this scenario in games played by other teams. The team ahead gets uncharacteristically hot and everything falls in and the opposing team just gets worse and worse as the game goes on.

Did you just hear the Stadium announcer? He just warned WKU not to get cocky because ODU just played poorly.

We have shot above 55% from the floor in 5 straight games. Hard to call that luck.

As for our loss at UTSA. Even the best teams can lay eggs on the road from time to time. Hell Purdue lost at Wisconsin just like we did as well. UTSA at home and UTSA on the road are two different animals.

You're an idiot.

I'm not the only one who saw the game for what it's worth. In the closing comments, the stadium color commentator pretty much told WKU not to take too much from this game as ODU played very poorly and WKU just shot uncharacteristically well.

Good Luck.

You obviously haven't watched Western play much this year if you think the UTSA game was the norm.

Which was clear. We dropped 100 on them at home.

RE: QDU @ WKU
I think this game was about like the flip side to the beating ODU put on Western 2014-15 in front of a loud pack house.

Home team got out early and the fans gets into it and both teams looked lost (Western 14-15 & ODU tonight). Early on ODU had that deer in the headlights look. As I said before...Western had fear in their eyes on that afternoon....ODU's defense and the fans took over that game.

Western's strengths matches up better vs ODU and if both teams play "their game" Western is going to win 6 or 7 out of 10 this year. ODU has to be on from the 3 point line or they struggle against teams with a balance offense....Western has the most balance offense in the conference. And when the players put in the effort on defense, like tonight....

this Western teams is as good as most top 25 to 15 teams. Things seem to be coming together on both ends for Western. ODU has a very good inside out team...just not the complete balance as Western on offense. Tonight ODU was not on but I do believe Western's defense played a huge role in making that happen. If this Western team had put that effort on defense into the 7 losses...

at most Western would only have 3

There's no doubt about it this is the best 1,2,3 bunch of teams since Western joined CUSA

Can't argue with any of that. Even if Western hadn't have jumped out to a 20 point lead in the first 10 minutes they still would have won. We played a lot more evenly the rest of the game but still seemed to lose more ground than we gained. Congrats. Western fans all smiles tonight. Stay safe in those storms.

RE: QDU @ WKU
I said it last month after seeing Western in person at the TED and I didn't see anything tonight that makes me feel any different than what I posted on here then. In my humble opinion Western has the most talented and most balanced team in the conference.

The Hilltoppers have a very nice combination of size, experience, shooting, defense, and rebounding. They have several guys that can put the ball on the floor and take it to the basket. They hit their foul shots. Any team can have an off night, lose a game that they shouldn't have, or win a game while looking much worse than they actually are. Not to take anything away from MTSU as they are extremely good in their own right, but in my opinion, WKU is the best team in the conference this season.

Good luck till the tournament and maybe ODU can give a better showing if the meet up with WKU again there. Where's Trey Freeman when you need him? 04-cheers

RE: QDU @ WKU
This is the best I’ve seen a Western team play in a big game since the Courtney Lee years.

JJ and Coleby are the best pair of bigs I can remember in a long time at Western, both can hurt you and Stans has molded this group into an inside out team.

As good as Caver is I thought Tayveon played him at least even if not outplayed him in the second half. Caver got him on assists but that’s not really Tayveon’s game. Tayveon outscored him 20-15. He also held Caver on 12 for a long time.

I thought Darius did a great job frustrating BJ Stith. Darius has the size to match up with him and played really good dee imo. Darius played like the big time grad transfer he is.

Stans had talked this week how he doesn’t love Senior Nights as some players get too jacked and emotional. He might want to revisit that after the show JJ put on to start the onslaught.

Lamonte Bearden seems like the hidden factor for Western. I love him. His sillyness with the dribble amuses me to no end. It’s not necessary by any means and I’m sure it must drive Stans crazy at times but he’s really been a huge X-Factor since Stans slid him over to Point God and let Darius play off the ball. Bearden marches to his own drummer for sure but still manages to be a great team player for the most part.

I know the ODU faithful are upset with how it turned out but hats off to them for crushing folks lately. I think it certainly helped pull in a huge vocal crowd. The crowd would have been good simply because of Senior Night but ODU made it an electric atmosphere from tipoff.

RE: QDU @ WKU
ODU fans wake up this morning facing the reality that we face every season: we can't beat the top teams of the conference.

This year we were more hopeful because we didn't have the boneheaded 250+ RPI in conference loss that so many teams face. I mean, it's very possible. Injury, sickness, travel woes, energy. We managed to overcome that all season and not drop the boneheaded losses yet (we still have 2 more to go with F_U before we are out of the woods).

So for that reason, we had hope this season would be different. Then last night happens and we are reminded we are who we are.

Can we really use the excuse that Marshall wore us out? If that's the case, we have absolutely 0 chance in Frisco. All 3 games are tough. That's the point.

I'm not surprised that we lost. You guys are a potent team. I am surprised that we got blown out. I wasn't expecting that at all.

And I'm not at all sure what you saw in us last night that would make you think that we can stay on the same court as WKU or Empty Sue in the tournament. Whatever it is, please share. I could use a dose of unrealistic optimism this morning.

Stuff happens and there is not always an explanation. Your team came to Huntington and beat us at our place when Elmore and Burks each had a terrific game, very difficult to accomplish. That game took the wind out of my sails, though the game was close you simply were the better team, now you have this game. This is the best I have ever seen this conference at the top, once the tourney starts I certainly feel ODU will be a factor.

Better team? Prayer after prayer? You are obviously talking about a different game and different teams. Not sure how you can call ODU the better team. And we haven’t exactly been heaving up shots late in the shot clock. How many layups and dunks has WKU had tonight.

I think he was being sarcastic. At least I think he was. Surely he was, I think.

ODU can certainly play better (they looked like they were moving in molasses last night on both ends of the floor, and WKU did whatever they wanted.)

But I'm not sure it would've mattered last night. WKU was on fire early, got the big lead, and we just couldn't slice into it.

I still think that ODU has a shot in Frisco. We will likely have to beat WKU and MTSU in back to back nights. So it's good to get the stinker out of our system now.

We also beat Perdue and SMU on a neutral court. Not many teams can say that. Only had 7 players when we did it. Every team has some clunkers.
