RE: Moon landing?
We did it. We had two more Saturn 5 rockets built and ready to go. Some say the risk had gotten to large for the return. Chances are somebody would die or be stranded. That would be a disaster after all the success.
Another factor many don’t want to discuss is that LBJs great society was cranking up and biting out more and more of the federal budget for social programs. Not to mention the Viet Nam war cost.
One strange thing about the moon trips is the lost film. 700 rolls of processed film and motion picture film was lost for almost 50 years. This was very high quality film shot on the surface of the moon. It was just recently found in a storage room in Australia. They, to my knowledge, have not released any of it to the public yet. Would love to see it.

I doubt there would be much of a reaction beyond people's belief in their government further eroding.

I'm sure it would be a hot topic that week, but Trump would send out a few mean tweets and change the national discussion just like that.

lol

No sir, believing we landed on the moon is NOT enough. You are not even allowed to ask questions or even think about, and if you do you will pay the price of public mockery.

Interesting lol

If you have really flaky ideas, expect some public mockery. That we didn't land on the moon is one of the more flaky ideas out there. It just doesn't pass any test of common sense. You think the Russians would allow us to claim that and you don't think they would know? And if you are old enough, you saw it. Many saw the rockets take off and the astronauts returns. Tens of thousands worked on the program. A lot of people worked at Nasa. I have three relatives who work there now or did in the past (although not in 1969). We have equipment left on the moon.

If I claimed Columbus never really crossed the Atlantic, I would expect some mockery too.

Except I didn't claim Columbus didn't cross the Atlantic, nor did I claim we didn't land on the moon. In fact, I said repeatedly I still believe we landed on the moon. Hopefully, you can see the massive difference between those two things.

I expect public mockery simply for having an opinion or random thought. That is the culture we live in today.

As I said, openly admitting I still believe we landed on the moon is not enough for people today. Daring to admit you have thoughts or doubt on any level triggers people, and the claws come out.

I'm not bothered by it, I find it rather comical.

seriously, at this point it probably wouldnt be a bad thing. more people need to think our government is full of shite, imo. unfortunately this one did happen.

so, if eroding the confidence of the public wasn't a high priority, why wouldn't they fake it? seems cheaper and consequences not so terrible. was the technology not update enough?

I haven't had tang in 30 years, but it seems like I liked it if memory serves.

The orange stuff anyways. I didn't even know there was a purple tang.

My mom thought they were expensive junk and refused to buy them. Naturally, I decided they were the greatest foodstuff every invented. Traded for them or begged for them whenever I could. Can't remember what they tasted like but I have fond memories. Had kind of a weird foil-ish wrapper...

For those interested, linked below is a paper that describes in probabilistic terms the difficulty with keeping such conspiracies alive.

On the Viability of Conspiratorial Beliefs

TL:DR
Based on the fact that more than 400,000 people had a part in getting astronauts to the moon, if it was a hoax, it should have been discovered in less than 4 years.

I already gave my opinions and views. I'm not required to argue it 3 pages deep, no matter how badly you want me to.

As I have said about 7-8 times now, I still believe we did land on the moon.

I'm sorry, but that is how I feel.

I would suggest you try to accept that and move on. 04-cheers

My dad was too cheap to buy real Tang.

We got “Borden powdered orange drink” instead.

It’s almost exactly what the astronauts drank! We were told... basically orange kool aid. The sugar from one glass would keep us rolling for the entire day.

Like one of those massive pixie stix from back in the day...

Funny, never heard of, or seen these(?).

Guess we were more wrapped around poprocks and the nickel McDs burgers once a year
