RE: Official Game Thread: @ VMI
This is a game that should easily be a solid win, but being a road game, ETSU must be careful to avoid another scenario like The Citadel. The Buccaneers really control their own destiny right now, and taking care of business in a game like this is essential.

Will we go two for twenty-something from 3 in another empty gym? Let's hope not. It will be interesting to see how we come out after this week off.

RE: Official Game Thread: @ VMI
Coach Forbes on the radio this morning :
-Speaking about VMI he reiterated the need to play good defense against them and to penetrate to the basket in order to open up the outside shot.
-As mentioned earlier Coach was in Florida recruiting this week. He mentioned that he was in the Panama City airport.
-When asked if the week off had been beneficial to the team, he said that it had been a good thing. The team appears to be locked in and practicing with great energy. He called from Florida Tuesday to see how practice had gone and the staff told him that they could have left and practice would have gone on fine without them, an indication of how focused the teams seems to be.
-When asked yet again about the winning streak, Coach Forbes said that he still hadn't mentioned it to the team particularly, but if it continued it might be something he points out to them nearer the end of the season. As he pointed out, ETSU at this point only has a 2 point lead in the conference. The streak doesn't mean as much as maintaining that lead.
-When asked if he had heard from other teams about coaching offers, he basically told them that he wouldn't say it in public if he had. He admitted that if someone were to offer him a "life changing" opportunity, he would have to listen. He also said that at his age it makes a difference that he feels at home here. If he were younger it might change his perspective about another job.
-When asked he said he would rather not meet UTK in the tournament as they matched up similarly to ETSU. He would hope for a mismatch in style and personnel with any tournament opponent. Also, said again that we are not in the tournament and shouldn't lose sight of that fact.
-When asked about the voter from Iowa that gave us a vote in the AP poll, he said that he knew the voter and that he was from Burlington, IA which is near Lone Tree.
-In speaking of the RPI, he mentioned that a week or so ago that at least
a couple of teams ahead of ETSU in the RPI ratings had 1 away victory each while ETSU had 9. He mentioned that VCU paid $500,000 last year for teams to come play at VCU. Not a big fan of RPI.
-When asked which SOCON venue was the toughest to play in, he expressed the opinion that the "young men" at Furman's home games were "interesting" and apparently "think they are funnier than they really are." Also, said that Wofford fans are really into games, but aren't as abusive.

VMI starts the game with more energy than us. Too many lazy passes.

Leading at the half but close. I don't know if it's a case of getting lax over the extended break or what. They need to shift gears in the 2nd half and get things going.
