Purdue at Memphis 3 seed at 6 seed
Bit of a difference.
Agree. The difference, though, is that playing a 6 seed on the road is a lot harder than playing at an 11 seed.
Debatable; on home floor seeds don’t mean much. The point is they were already after Dana and 3@11 seeed is one hell of a penalty before findings. This is the lowest seed ever to get a home game in NCAA history.
Whatever.
Bottom line from the old heads is "blah blah...got screwed having to play a road game as a 3 seed" while never acknowledging that Memphis also caught a benefit by getting a 3 seed at the MSC for a tourney game.
Shoot, feel bad for Purdue. Guess where they had to play in that tourney as a 6 seed? AT LSU.
So in a span of a couple years, they had to play a road game as a 3 seed and as a 6 seed vs. lower seeded teams.
Go ***** on Purdue board. That was a F4 Memphis team they put on the road in ‘86. Bedford had settled down some and was as focused as he ever was. Was at Purdue games. Neither was even close to a F4 team.
Obviously not. They couldn't beat an 11 seed.

Did you watch the game? Dale Brown had the refs kissing his butt by the end of the game. Andre was even ticked off and he NEVER let officiating bother him. So you are strictly results driven; when one of Duke’s best team got beat in S16 on neutral floor, they were not a F4 contender? That’s silly.

That was 30+ years ago...I think it's time to put that baby to bed.

You debated the point and the thread was an historical one.

RE: 1000 Point Tigers (Updated 2/22)
Martin finishes the year with 917 career points. If he picks up where he left off at 18.9 points he'll hit 1000 within his first 5 games of next season.
