Tyreke Trade Rumor Week

NEWS AND RUMORS
• The Sixers are interested in Grizzlies guard Tyreke Evans, but Memphis' asking price of a first-round pick has hamstrung discussions. Philly could be enticed to make the deal, however, if Memphis agrees to take Jerryd Bayless, who is owed $8.5 million next season. Other teams interested in Evans, who has enjoyed a resurgence in Memphis, include the Celtics, Thunder, Heat, Rockets and Pelicans. (Marc Stein, New York Times)

It is the smart move...He is causing us to win too many games and he is likely gone soon after the season anyway.

Keith Pompey -
Pompey on Sixers

Source confirms #Sixers are interested in Tyreke Evans, but adds #Celtics, #Cavaliers, #Pelicans, #Thunder, #Heat & #Rockets have all contacted the #Grizzlies about the Chester native. "It going to come to a team giving them what they want," the source said. They want a 1-rounder

Bill Simmons -

Bill Simmons‏Verified account @BillSimmons

PS: Tyreke is averaging almost 20 ppg in 31 mpg with 46/39/80% splits. He’s a game changer for the Celtics bench. They aren’t getting him unless it’s Smart/1st or Rozier/1st in my opinion.

Yeah, not sure about wanting to take salary back for next year though with Bayless. Philly does have 2 first round picks for next year so it might be easier for them to give up one.

I would definitely deal with Parsons situation.

Shop Gasol.

And try my absolute best to deal Conley even at a big loss.

Get some top picks for Conley, Gasol, and Parsons if I can.

Keep Tyreke.

Finish the foolish "rebuild" that started last year.

Keeping Tyreke makes absolutely no sense. We are trying to lose. He has value. We could resign him this off-season if we wanted too...

If we can land Smart/Rozier and a 1st it’s a grand slam for our front office...simply getting a 1st would be awesome.

And keep what?

Conley, Parsons, and Gasol?

If the end goal is to win and win big tyhen you have to move those three ASAP regardless of how much you have to eat on those contracts.

Get some first round picks.

Who cares?

Move him or cut him.

I don't think any of the three players mentioned will play a full season for the rest of their careers.

Package deal him or something.

Or just cut him if he has a teflon contract.

Push the injury retirement issue or whatever.

It is a foolish narrative to say that trading Tyreke but keeping Parsons, Gasol, and Conley is somehow good for the future of the Griz.

Successful franchises figure these things out.

It's apparent you know nothing about how NBA contracts work. You can't just do those things because it benefits you. You are still bound by the numbers.

You okay?

I know exactly how cap space works.

You can trade anybody you want.

If you can trade Tyreke, you can trade Gasol, if you can trade Gasol you can trade Conley, if you can trade Conley, you can trade Parsons.

In fact, you could trade all four of them.

Hypothetically.

Need suitors but still.

Tyreke would be a higher priority for me than any of the other three guys going forward.

I would figure something out.

Explain to me where I am wrong.

And FTR, I do understand that you will still have to pay them.

If that's what you meant.

What's the difference between a hospital bed or another team or just cut?

Parsons is a negative asset. Only way to move him is to take back equally bad salary, and probably attach an asset like a future 1st and/or a young player.

Knicks have basically suspended Yannick Noah. I'm sure that we could work out a trade for Noah, but how does that help things.

You have to pay the guy either way.

He is doing NOTHING to make you better.

I doubt he can string together 10 consecutive games again in his career.

I doubt Conley can string together 20 consecutive games.

But whatever, trading Tyreke for Bayless is a smart move.

Pfft.

Back to Tyreke, the situation is working out perfectly for the Grizz. Hope the FO doesn't blow it.

Rash of recent injuries - Love, Wall, Cousins - increases teams looking for a scorer. Especailly in the East with the Cavs looking so vulnerable, Philly or Boston or the Wizards or even the Raptors would be likely trade partners.

We've traded a lot with Boston in the past, where Wallace used to work. Boston's team offense is ranked 29th for the month of January, so they need a scorer.

Boston badly needs bench scoring.

Tyreke for a 1st and Smart/Rozier is a great deal for the Grizz. Grizz could even throw in Wright.

I get your frustration with Chandler. Just saying there is probably no good answer.

I don't like the Bayless deal unless Philly takes McLemore and his $5.5M owed next year off our hands. Bayless owed $8.6M next year, so another bad contract. And Philly would save $3M off next year's books in the exchange.

Ainge won't trade Rozier, still has him cheap next year.

Was surprised to see Bill Simmons floating Smart and a 1st for Tyreke. Smart would be a typical Grizz, good D and can't shoot. But he still plays 30 mpg, just don't see Boston wanting to disrupt that. And that's a lot for Boston to give.

Easiest trade for Boston is a first and the TPE for Tyreke. Or Tyreke and Brandan. Which clears a roster spot for us, and they move Kobi into that slot. Wallace probably wanting our first next year back from Boston. Boston probably wanting to give this year's first, which would be 28th if the season ended today.

Love and Marc's salaries are exactly the same the next two years - $24.1M and $25.6M.

Since everybody on the Cavs apparently hates Love now, and he's injured for 2 months, I'm sure the Cavs would be willing.

Marc has a 15% trade kicker, Cleveland would probably want him to waive that.

Who knows?
