RE: CUSA offseason baseball thread
Interesting read on ticket prices and resale value of USM’s opening weekend series vs Mississippi St. FWIW when USM hosted MSU in football several years back I don’t remember ticket prices reaching this kind of level.
http://www.sunherald.com/sports/spt-colu...14679.html
The cheapest single-game ticket you can purchase on StubHub for the Feb. 16 opener at Pete Taylor Park is currently $105. That price jumps to $156 on Saturday and sits at $130 for the series finale on Sunday.
The most expensive tickets for the Feb. 16 game are two for $250 each in Section H box seating. Those two seats provide a nice view just to the left of home plate.
On Saturday, those same two seats are worth $299 a pop. They drop back to $250 on Sunday.
On VividSeats.com, ticket prices range from $97-$231 for the season opener in Hattiesburg.
If you want to wait and buy your single-game tickets for the MSU-USM series after they become available on Feb. 1, chairback, box and bleacher seating will all cost $20. General admission will be $15.
You just have to hope tickets will still be available at Pete Taylor Park, which has a capacity of 4,300.

There were tickets going for ~$130 for the State football game in 2015.

College Sports Madness ranks USM #25, with Rice not included in their Top 44...
http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/15599
I get your offense, and Sendlin, but not sure how you can be ranked in the Top 25 with a totally unproven and untested weekend rotation. People are giving you guys the benefit of the doubt, while saying "show me" to Rice after one down season-- one in which we finished the regular season on an 18-4 run, including a sweep through the CUSA tourney. We don't deserve to be preseason Top 25, but I think everyone is overlooking us this year.

I think USM does have a top 25 team in place. I was shocked that Rice wasn't ranked given the year end run that you guys had. You certainly belong there.

Think we're 30-40 range. Not sold enough on our starting pitching.

Again, I just don't know how a team can be ranked in the preseason Top 25 after losing its entire weekend rotation and returning just one proven, experienced pitcher (even if that pitcher is a well-deserved all-american closer). A real head scratcher here.

Heck, we're not even ranked inside anyone's Top 40. Talk about being totally overlooked.

I’m digging that video board. Really wish we had something like that at USM.

Will be just like last year. Overlooked until the last day of the Tournament in Biloxi when Rice and USM will play for the championship.

After USM made bank ($$$) for the Biloxi stadium and then the stadium commission made multiple comments on how they planned on making more $$$ this year I could see USM going 0-2 this year. I hope I'm wrong but it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

USM99. I am a Biloxi native. Live and work on the Coast. Everyone that I spoke with who attended, even those who were OM, LSU, MSU, USA etc... fans, enjoyed the games and the atmosphere, even when USM wasn't playing. I think that if this year is as exciting as last, the tournament may have found a permanent home.
By the way, they have been working on the glitches and have worked out many of them. Including opening all the ticket offices.

I'm not doubting/questioning the point people enjoyed their time there as the coast offers way more as far as family entertainment. My point was meant halfway sarcastic in that the people/company (Overtime Sports) that sponsored the event I feel like are already envisioning a bigger financial payday for them personally based off the fact that USM played every day last year after losing game 1 to UTSA. Based off the fact that Overtime Sports sees themselves making more money in year 2 it would be par for the course for USM to go 0-2 and put a kink in their plans. With the exception of the ticket booth fiasco and USM losing the CG to Rice I enjoyed my week there.

Weren't Rice's Proctor and Otto preseason player and pitcher of the year picks last year? Just saying.

BTW, I'm not disagreeing that Wallner and Sandlin should be preseason player and pitcher of the year favorites.

I'm not as confident predicting Florida Atlantic to finish third until I see more depth, but I'm happy for Miednik and Miranda to receive some recognition (and Frank, of course).
