I honestly think we will see only two to three more for the February 2018 signing day, if Grissom and Mackey are not playing in the Fall of 2018 it could be more. No matter how you shift it around its still 85 scholies maximum.
I agree that the 85 number is the big number now.
There are 3 numbers which the staff has to deal:
1). Number of prior year open scholarship (unused 2017 scholarships).
2). The hard 25 limit for one academic year (2018/9).
3). The hard 85 limit total scholarships in effect for 2018/9.
#1 is basically 'history'. They have been given out whatever that number was.
The question and the staff, not us, knows the answer: What is the next number which we'll bump up again: 25 2018/9 scholarships or 85?
What is TRICKY about this is that SOME scholarships given out last month count as 2017 (!!) scholarships. The mid-year JUCOs, etc. can count against LAST YEAR's 25, not the coming year.
What we may not realize is that '16' number (17 with Wiegers) is more like say maybe 12. E.g., take 17 and say 5 count against 2017, then that means EMU gave out 12 2018 scholarships.
Getting back to '79's main point, we should hit 85 (total) before we hit 25 new 2018/9 scholarships.
As we've discussed in other threads, we did not have a large 2017 senior class. Maybe roughly a dozen scholarship players. So it is those scholarships plus unused scholarships which will limit our recruiting...
