Yep.
Because I'm not a fan of Trump doesn't mean I'm on the Michael Moore/Bernie Bro bandwagon. I gave crap to the 'progressives' quite a lot pre-2016. Still not a fan of that ilk, but they aren't my main focus right now.
Oh, stinkfist... #KABOOM3

Stick to principles and ideology, not to party. Nice try.

The term "sounding presidential" is likely being thrown around-- I hate that phrase. Frankly I don't want the CIC to "sound presidential"... that phrase= double-speak.
Its not like he was giving a public speech. Its a closed door meeting.
Ok..so you're going with that. That its fine to have the President of the United States make racist statements in the context of a POLICY meeting?
Why is shithole racist? Would it be racist if you said to your African date "come on baby I want to get in your shithole"? Then get with your friends after you been there and tell them "that was a awful shithole"?
The word in and of itself isn't racist. Isn't it interesting that people frequently say comments were taking out of context but in this case, they absolutely want you to take the word out of context.
Trump was saying that we shouldn't take PEOPLE from Haiti because the place is a shithole. This means to suggest that people from that country or other African countries are sub par because the place they live in is a shithole. Even that by itself is somewhat questionable but he added at the end that we should instead take people from Norway instead. Which is probably 98% white.

Many Coastal goons think the entire Midwest and South are foreign country, flyover deplorables , pond scumb. Who care what They think.
High-ranking elected officials should be held to a higher standard than late-nite comedians, media columnists, political cartoonists, cable news talking heads, etc.
Before we get too high up on that horse, let's remember this was said behind closed doors. Some of the language presidents have used behind closed doors is pretty crude.
Hillary calling voters deplorable was done *AT A SPEAKING EVENT*
Actually, Trump and his supporters are proving her right. Racism is deplorable. Enabling racism is deplorable.
Unless you'd like to argue that racism isn't deplorable. In which case deplorable would also be an apt description but I'd argue that racist would be the more exact label.
BTW, Hillary didn't call white voters deplorable. She called Trump supporters deplorable.

Straw man. He said we should't take 'so many people' from shithole countries. That means he wants to emphasize other areas where immigrants can contribute more immediately without government "investment".

This isn't about whether they actually are 'shiteholes' or not. It's about using tact toward others and exhibiting some common decency when you are in the position of POTUS.
It's funny I don't see you saying the same when all of these shithole TV talking heads and Congressmen and Senators on the left get on TV and call this President things that are 100x worse than shithole.
Shouldn't they be held to the same standards? Where's your outrage when that happens, nightly?
TV talking heads are private citizens paid to give controversial opinions.
I don't care too much what politicians call each other, especially if it's within the context of perceived actions.
EDIT: I spent years and years criticizing the Left since I joined in 2002. I've promoted fiscal conservative views so often your head would spin. My overall ideological views haven't changed all that much. I'm just not on the Trump Train, don't like his style and most of his policies. If you guys support him, hey, that's fine, it's your right.
So those that make our laws. Run this country. Affects your and mine everyday life more than most Presidents. Shouldn't be held to the same standards?
The words "toward others" kind of means...EACH OTHER

People who have nothing to lose will contribute more immediately than any kind of people I know.

Kabooms aside, I lean conservative in fiscal matters and free market (I admit I'm generally warm to the tax plan), pretty liberal on social issues and foreign policy.
Disagree with that if you'd like, but I haven't swayed much from that for a long time.
Trump doesn't fit most of my views from a policy standpoint, and certainly not as a representative on the world stage. Again, that's fine if you and anyone else doesn't agree. So go ahead and trot out the "beta cuck, sjw, he/she" lines if you want in the future, if you feel that helps your argument. But I adhere to more traditional conservative planks than you think.
And with that I'll bow out as well.

I don't think so. Inner city poverty is generational. While it's great to see rags to riches happen in the U.S., it's still pretty rare enough with U.S. born citizens who start life in poverty. Why in the world would we want to import more poor people? And your phrase is still a straw man.

Actually, you're right. I didn't word that well.
I wouldn't have minded specific examples of "100x worse than shitehole" that I could address. But, yes, if I thought Trump went above the fray during and after the primaries and election, then raw insults on the congressional floor should be held to the same standard.
(This post was last modified: 01-12-2018 01:18 PM by Motown Bronco.)
Before yesterday we were told by our friends on the left that it was compassionate to let these immigrants come here because of how horrible it was where they lived.
Now it's racist to correctly call where these immigrants hail from a shitehole.

see...we're not that different on policy on both sides of the equation....
I prefer what you do.....but the shite had gotten out of control.....
at that point, I toss status quo out of the equation and look for an alternative.....
politics.....it's a biatch....it's why I despised current methodology until #henceDJT......
somebody had to give both sides a swift kick to the rear......
