If you were on eBay why not get an original SNES and the games? I mean...

*************

FWIW, i got my SNES classic a week early when it appeared my local Wal Mart broke street date and it wasn't register blocked when I bought it. I also saw a HUGE restock wave of them a few weeks ago with a decent amount of units at Wal Mart and Best Buy. I would assume one more wave might hit store shelves before Christmas.

Yeah, my local Walmart had two last time I went in there (about a week ago). I bet you'll have a shot depending on where you live/when you check. It was the same with Switch...there are four Best Buys around Toledo and the one I frequent had 6 in stock when I came in about a month after release.

I watched that whole video and could only recognize one new game...am I missing something? Everything seems to be just remakes of games that can fit on the small game carts at the moment. I am enjoying Xeno 2 for sure, but I still feel like I'm missing something with the Switch paranoia.

Kirby, Mario Tennis Aces, Fe, and maybe Celeste are all unreleased games.

I probably should've clarified with tentpole/non-indie game. I did forget about Kirby, but I'm not sure side-scrolling platformers are really something a console wants to use as full promotional items. They bring us back because that's what we grew up on (I'm thrilled to have the Mega Man collections on Switch even if they are just re-releases), but the younger generation doesn't find any level of attachment. They seem to be much more excited about open-world games or high level action games, rather than the side scrollers or the past.

I am happy to see Ys get a port, but I won't buy it...already played it once, no need to re-buy. Was really hoping that they would have some information about the new Fire Emblem game...that's going to be a really burner based on how well the last few handheld releases have done.

Ys was interesting but I think my ship sailed on that series after playing Ys I and II(TG16) on WiiVC back in the day and them never getting to III.

I bought Hyrule Warriors and the DLC for WiiU, hit a wall in a Death Mountain stage and never went back to it. I doubt I double dip.

Mario Tennis looks nice but I doubt I'd get it.

My brother has Pokken DX so the DLC he should like.

Odyssey DLC is so meh.... free...sure... but no new Kingdoms? A balloon finding mini game?

************

SURPRISES TO ME:

No Yoshi game info.

No paid online/Switch VC info.

I gather that Dark Souls thing is HUGE so...

Surprised not now but.....
--Smash Bros?
--Animal Crossing?
--Fire Emblem?

The WiiU ports chosen...

You should give Ys 8 another run...the series is made in a way that each can be played on their own, and IMO Ys has some of the best JRPG combat out there and the best/most consistently good soundtracks in video games in general.

People are already commenting on how the Balloon Finding DLC is just rehashing one of the bigger criticisms of Odyssey, the fact that most of the game completion is done by random find-a-whatever and not through any different mechanics.

Dark Souls really shouldn't be a big deal, but I guess it is to some people. That's a 7.5 year old game, so the fact that they're pumped they can port it really doesn't speak highly about the power of the console and the ability for the AAA multi-plats to be able to play natively on it.

The port selection does leave much to be desired, and I'm shocked that they left what many consider to be their big 2018 tentpoles (FE:16, Yoshi, and Smash) completely without mention. Seems like an odd way to try to build on the console momentum if you ask me.

This is an early 2018 slate for the most part. Big guns will be announced close to and at E3. Plus we are assuming Pokémon will be the tentpole Holiday game.

M$ looking into buying EA?

That's not it...Valve is reportedly being looked at as well, which would effectively create a monopoly on online licensing distribution of PC gaming property with EA Origin and Steam...would be VERY interesting for game publication. Basically forces any sports game fan's hands.

RE: OT: The Official Video Game Discussion Thread
Last two games I've played have been excellent.

First was Dishonored 2. I haven't played a game with such good level design since the original Dishonored. The Clockwork Mansion and Crack in the Slab were the obvious highlights, but every level was great. Arkane is my favorite studio these days.

Next was Dark Souls 3. It was my first Souls game on a PC, the better framerate makes a huge difference. It was much better than DS2 and Bloodborne, imo. The penultimate boss was probably my favorite in the whole series of games (including Demon's Souls and Bloodborne).

Next two up are Evil Within 2 and Wolfenstein TNC.

RE: OT: The Official Video Game Discussion Thread
The wife got me a PS4 for xmas, along with a copy of The Last of Us Remastered. I just finished the game last night. Never played the original on PS3 because I was an xbox/PC guy back then

One of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I've had. The gameplay flows naturally with little time wasted on filler. The crafting, stealth, and combat are well done. The scenery is haunting and beautiful. The character development is deep and engaging. I'm not sure how to feel about the ending but I'm glad I played this game and will probably eventually replay on a harder difficulty.

Gonna check out Overwatch next, and Witcher 3 is on deck

They brought DOOM and Wolfenstein to the Switch too, which are fairly recent AAA titles designed for the PS4/XBONE/PC crowd.

Dark Souls seems more like Skyrim, just a lazy developer trying to milk a few more dollars out of a popular game.

Get ready for your free time to disappear when you pop that one in 03-lmfao

Yeah, I agree, the fact that they've ported Doom and TNO/TNC onto Switch does speak volumes, but I haven't seen any play footage to be able to see if fidelity/framerate has been problematic.

TLOU is still on my gaming Mt. Rushmore...and I've got a few more "faces" than the real life counterpart.

TLOU, Link to the Past, Mass Effect 2, Civ 4, Super Mario 64, and World of Warcraft

Great list! LTTP, ME2, and SM64 were all amazing. I would swap Civ4 for Starcraft in the "best strategy game" slot

As for WoW, I swore off MMOs after I detoxed from Everquest. I played EQ from like 1999 to 2003 and at some point it stopped being fun and become a job that I couldn't quit because I had invested so much time in my character. Sunk cost fallacy and all that

WoW is more up there due to the fact that it basically re-wrote the book on MMOs and is arguably the most successful single game in existence (depending on how you categorize the expansions). Personally, I played right when it came out *(my senior year of HS and freshman year of college...surprisingly with a fellow UC soccer player and a UC football player who lived next door to us lol), but then the engineering books got more expensive and I had to use the stipend elsewhere. I've heard it has gotten much better and much less grindy in the leveling phase...but I agree, EG sucks in all MMOs, as it would for any game if they had play-through after completion with no activities outside of waiting for a daily respawn and running through the same place over and over again just to get one new Mage robe 03-lmfao

Did anyone see the first stream back for Dr. Disrespect? I'm not a huge twitch guy, but the story is gaining some pretty significant VG/Tech buzz...apparently averaged 400,000 concurrent viewers during the entire length of his broadcast (which is close to a record), and a redditor estimated after re-watching and compiling a list of donations that he made just over $300,000 last night simply from that. There were 38 donations over $1,000...what?! 03-lmfao

I have thoroughly enjoyed the roughly 60 hours I've put into it over the course of the last five months or so. Very cool PVE/progression based gaming on the solo side, and if you're into arena multiplayer it's fun as heck.

It’s not my cup of tea but I don’t see how you can not try it when it’s free.
