South Dakota State's Dana J. Dykehouse Stadium is pretty much our phase 1 and nearly at the budget planned for. Had they not spent so much time on studying the "water front" nonsense, it would be done.

It is pretty much like ours if you take away the nice scoreboard, the endzone seats, the press box, and the suites.

That's like saying I was only six numbers off from winning the lottery s/

I’d be thrilled with a stadium like that. Only problem is that’s much nicer than what is being described now.

True, but I think it is pretty damn close to the $55 Million plan that the school chose from the stadium design. Seeing that they are so similar but this one is already done,.. not sure how ODU's version was to be $10 Million less for pretty much the same building.

Don't forget that we are only doing sidelines and already have our end zone suites and club level at one end. I don't remember how much that cost when it was built but i would imagine it was at least $10 million.

I would try and get some info but because of who I work for I don't like to ask about this topic. I hate being in the dark like the rest of you but I hope we're happy with the renderings! I got a feeling we won't be mad but at the same time it's a long way from the excitement drummed up about boat gating. Man I was stoked on that idea.

It wont be as convenient, but we can still boat gate. We just need a dock that allows us to do it.

Which means this "new" stadium will cost almost $80 million combined already. For a place that will be smaller and not much better than NSU's, thats a heck of a lot of money. Seems like we may be getting ripped off, though I can't imagine Ballard doing that. Something is fishy.

This article states ODU raised $8 million dollars in 6 months, just for football back in 2009. With us being FBS now and the economy doing better, they might be able to do the same thing again. They should at least be trying. That extra $8 million might be the difference between blah and pretty nice.

Are you serious? The game day building already makes Foreman Field nicer than Price. That place won't compare to our finished product.

At the announcement of the capital campaign, they said they already had $10 mil in pledges. So I would imagine when the campaign goes public, we will have far surpassed that figure. Just hope they actually make additions to phase 1 with it.

Obviously, I mean other than the game day building.

NSU has 30,000 seats, a decent press box and and wrap around end zone. ODU is now talking about 20,000 seats, only two sides with only a small portion chair backs, no new end zone and possibly a bare bones press box. As it was described to me by one who claims to know, "we're talking about seats and bathrooms". I hope you're right about our stadium. My expectations have been dropped to thinking what we have will be worse than FIU's stadium.

Worse than FIUs and comparable to NSU are two different things. From what I remember, it sounded like they're sticking with adding a facade (on at least one side) to hide the erector set.

But at this point, we just have to wait until we see the next update.

Right. That little park on the back side of Whitehurst is perfect for it.

Couple hundred slips @ x $ for a spot. They'd be a hot commodity. I understand it's super shallow but it can be a long pier.

My dad and uncle are both a part of the Vol navy boat gaters. Their pier is long. But to accommodate all of the boaters, you have to tie up to other boats and walk across them to get to pier. It makes for a tight knit group and inviting atmosphere.

We've done that before over at chicks. Get 3 and 4 deep tied up to each other and boat hop. It's a blast.

Because discussing a pier on this forum will derail that process. =]
