Should every position at every level be paid hourly?
From the President to the janitor? No performance bonus, no salary. Strictly an hourly wage. What would the difference between each position mean? How would the work dynamic change? Unintended consequences?

There are labor laws regarding paying overtime. What would you do about those?

Imagine how much teachers would make if they got paid by the hour?

They would be millionaires.

Every non-management job should be hourly straight time (no time and a half). Guarantee 40 hours per week and anything over that both optional and subject to preapproval. Performance bonus should be at the discretion of the company, but the practice of working salaried employees at the level of say a staff accountant 80 hour weeks is abusive and should not be allowed unless they agree and are paid for it.

So having an hourly wage limits your income? Who’d a thunk?

My mother was a teacher. I assume you are being sarcastic as teachers would probably only average 1600 per year.

Do you want your food costs to become un-affordable? Find a farmer that works less than 60 hours a week.

Did your mother not work hours at home grading papers and making lesson plans? Did you mother not stay after school or show up early to help tutor students?

But they're self employed mostly.

If extra hours were available at your work, would most people volunteer for them?
Any difference between overtime pay and straight time regarding volunteering?

You can pay me hourly, as long as my hourly wage is commiserate with the salary I am worth.

I would love to tap into that sweet, sweet OT though. I'm a sucker for coming in early and leaving late.

Personally I would like more (if not all) people to be directly responsible for what they eat. Pay the farmer directly for veggies and meat. Grow and raise some food for yourself.

In my current position, I no longer have to work long hours so I wouldn't benefit much. Ten years ago however, I would have made a killing.

Shouldn’t a Pension be factored into hourly wage? Health insurance?
Would it help to show annualized cost to company on a paycheck?
