I had no idea Moore underperformed Romney so much in 2012 in the chief justice race.

Trump was right and Luther should have been the nominee

Luther couldn’t win the nomination though because of his deal to get his seat in the first place.

It wouldn’t be wrong to blame the disgraced former governor.

He made Luther utterly unpalatable and Moore swooped in.

And, I voted against Moore in ‘12. Moore is a politician, not a Judge.

Moore had issues long before the allegations. He wants a law to make being gay illegal. He also wanted to do away Abraham Lincoln's Amendments and all that. Doug Jones is tough on crime, but Moore's ideas are more inline with the radical Islam groups against rights of others. That is why we do not need people like Moore in office. It could lead to our country killing gays and others who are not a white radical Christians like Moore.

Everyone has their own motivation, and I’m sure many voted against Trump, but this race was really about a terribly flawed Repubulican candidate running against a palatable Democratic candidate.

If Republicans are looking for a scapegoat, look no further than Steve Bannon.

This was the absolute perfect storm for Jones. Luther Strange couldn't shake the the Bentley stink and Roy Moore is pretty polarizing even among a lot of Alabama Republicans. When that was combined with a sex scandal right before the election, it opened a window for Jones.

I don't think there's a big shift in Alabama politics coming anytime soon, though. This will probably still be the GOP's seat to lose in 2020.

This. I’m a white conservative leaning libertarian who wasn’t motivated to even vote today. I know several others like me. I also know plenty of folks who couldn’t vote for Moore because of his political stunts.
