Tubby is suffering from Dunning-Kurger
Tubby thinks he already understands most of what there is to know about running a program like Memphis. He doesnt and you can see that not only in his inaction but in his few public statements - for example 'lowering the expectations' or why he doesnt recruit hard. So, in Tubby's mind, there's no reason to make changes or listen to others since there's not much more he can learn. While others see Tubby's failures, Tubby's own ignorance of what he doesn't understand means all he can do is retry the same. This makes him unsuited for a job like Memphis --- or any job that requires an admission that you don't 'know it all' and need to acquire new methods and skills. Tubby can't - hence, Dunning-Kruger.

Later in that Wikipedia article is this --- which I think sums up Tubby's inaction ----- "the skills you need to produce a right answer are the exactly the skills you need to *recognize* what a right answer is."

I disagree. Tubby shows classic Pleasure Principle-the behaviors which are rewarded (financially, in this case) are most likely to be repeated (same old, same old).

RE: Tubby is suffering from Dunning-Kurger
Even Coach K has talked about how he has had to change and adapt to stay competitive in today's college basketball world. That man is 70 yrs old but still has the drive to be successful so he has evolved. I think that CTS's biggest problem is that he views his guys, his assistant coaches as his sons. And the thought of either firing or reassigning one of his sons is out of the question. He could have Josh Pastner, John Calipari, Jeff Capel, Kenny Payne or any legitimate player getter on staff and they would be in support roles here. And why not, just because it's been done here in the past, our expectations are unrealistic, so why change his staff or shake it up.

Didn't Tubby turn down more money from Texas Tech? I think a better description is that Tubby's blind spots exactly overlap his incompetencies. He doesn't know what he doesn't know --- and that's why he repeats "the same old, same old" ---- IMO. Worse, I dont see how a person like that changes --

RE: Tubby is suffering from Dunning-Kurger
TS's inability to land Top 100 talent dooms him to fail miserably as the Tiger basketball coach.

Unfortunately, there is blood in the water surrounding our basketball program, and other coaches, players and fans know it.

Short of finding some lightning in a bottle in regards to some recruiting miracles, this ship isn't turning around any time soon.

No.

Tech offered to bump him from 1.8 to 2.8 but that was still a bit shy of Memphis' 3.0 per.

I think (IIRC) Memphis had offered 2.5 then Tech came back at 2.8. Memphis then went to 3.0 and Tubby took it.

Add that he doesn't even know his head is up his ass. So he can't know that the resulting problems are caused by the position of his head. And when others point to his buttock he doesn't believe them -- so he walks around like that.

TTU would not allow him to promote Saul to an assistant coach position. Saul was video analyst

RE: Tubby is suffering from Dunning-Kurger
Something has to change and soon. Tigers last three wins have been by 2,2 and 1 to teams we should be handling easily at home. In those three games we have averaged almost 10 more FT attempts per game.

Damn lucky last night that Samford could not hit the side of a barn in the second half. And it STILL took a last second turnover shot and FT to win that one.

Hate to imagine what next Saturday's game in NYC is going to look like. May be on of the most lopsided wins for Louisville in the series history.

If the attendance really was 4702 you would b right.

If the actual attendance was under 2,000 What would that mean? (Grizzlies keep a 'correct 'count)
