Carey may have benched Santa for throwing some interceptions, but there is no way that Carey was going to kill him for it. I think some of this anti-Carey rhetoric may be going a little too far.

LOL, must not have noticed the "spell-correct" happen before I submitted it. Did that on my cell-phone.

Too bad, he should have been the guy IMO. Best of luck.

Good luck to Santa. I thought all year that he was our most talented QB that gave us our best chace to win a MACC. Carey and his staff preferred a low risk guy who cannot throw the ball with any accuracy at this stage of his career. Hopefully that changes.

If we have to worry about Illinois State and whether Santacaterina is on their roster, I would venture to guess that we would have MUCH bigger problems than both Illinois State and Santacaterina.

RE: Santa leaving NIU
Hopefully Santa leaving means that Thompson and Hall are the main challengers to Childers due to merit. I was hoping Childers would’ve had a couple breakout games by now but that hasn’t been the case. Unfortunately that probably means a wide open QB competition in the spring and summer. Hopefully a consistent playmaker emerges.

Hopefully Spack is gone (guessing he will be) and they’ll be rebuilding...

I wonder if NIU was playing it’s bowl game in a warm weather climate and not around X-Mas if he would have stayed.
Can RC go with him?

Illinois State still has Jake Kolbe from Naperville on the roster who has one year eligibility left. He has started for ISU at quarterback the last three years.

Disappointing but expected...7 even called awhile back.

So where does this leave NIU for the bowl game.... just Anthony Thompson as the only backup?

Agree and his brother too, he had some great days as a Huskie LB.

If Carey and the staff was that bad to him I highly doubt he would have made a point to thank them in the letter he posted.

Unless he's simply handling it with poise and class instead of the immaturity of burning bridges. Being diplomatic and saying the right things, wish everyone in the program did that.
