How Long Will it Take For the Conference
...to get where we should be. UCONN, Tulsa and ECU all need new coaches IMO. I still think Tubby will turn Memphis around but many Tigers fans would disagree. obviously Cinci is in great shape with Cronin as is WSU with Marshall. I really like what Dunleavy is doing and Gregory is new. I think Dunphy and Sampson are good. Jury is still out on Jank and Dawkins I think, but they’ve done great so far with other coaches players. 2 Years? 3 Years? Longer? I was hoping this year would be a breakthrough for the conference but I’m afraid I’m wrong.

UCONN needs to be UCONN for this conference to be where it should be. That is probably at least 5 years off. We should be solid in 2-3 years.

RE: How Long Will it Take For the Conference
Haith could be doing better but NIT, NCAA (at-large), followed by a rebuilding year isn’t awful for a first three. He was handicapped by the previous coach loading up one class so he had to replace 9 players going into last season. I’ve been disappointed with the play so far but I think we have talent. I’m hoping we can mature and get it together soon. I think he deserves at least this year and next to see how things pan out. No tourney the next two (when his contract is up) and I think we need to try and find the next great young coach.

this conference needs uconn and memphis to be good...memphis was doing 18k a game like 4 seasons ago..uconn has the biggest brand, memphis had the biggest fanbase
uconn is one good coach away..uconn isn't bare. they have like 8 4stars on roster....itll take 2 years on a elite coach and they'll be rolling.
ecu- lebo needs to go
memphis- tubby isn't a good fit at memphis...memphis should be an elite top 15 recruiting team, with flash, .....tubby is a good coach but should be at tulsa type school where he can build his juco rosters ..he'll win at memphis eventually but not the level memphis should
and this can still be a 4/5 bid league this season
overall if you think about it the AAC has been doing amazing consider 2 of our top 3 brands have been down since year 2..and houston is at the door step of reviving its once elite program

RE: How Long Will it Take For the Conference
Many have lost faith in ECU's Administration to take corrective action and do right for the University. Another lost period like the Hamrick tenure. It's time for a total reevaluation, but won't happen. Not sure we're lost right now. It's a shame because we have an outstanding football and baseball tradition. Zero basketball tradition, but we were brought to league for football. Never seen the fan base this low!!!!

RE: How Long Will it Take For the Conference
As long as Haith shows progress (finishes around .600) this season, I'm fine with him staying. I don't think people understand how he's had to rebuild the team almost from the ground up. When Wojick was fired we didn't have all star talent. Some players left. Then having Danny Manning for just 2 years led to more roster upheaval. This resulted in having about 7 or 8 seniors graduate after Haith's 1st or 2nd season here. Haith and his staff ever since have been trying to balance out the roster I believe. Bringing in Juco's when necessary/possible and what-not. Still, this roster is young, and it's just going to take time. I'd hate for us to nip a good thing in the bud before it comes to fruition.
Now, that being said...if we finish below .500 this season Haith probably needs to go unless it is due to mass injuries on the roster or something.

We've needed a new coach for several years now.

RE: How Long Will it Take For the Conference
I have to agree with my TU brethren here. Surprisingly, the TU forums are full of people who completely disagree with us. However, he had to completely build a team from the ground up. We were so senior heavy two years ago and then last year we were Freshman heavy. Haith is trying to balance it out and I think he is doing a pretty good job with it. His players though are young and so a lot of talent. I say we let him coach his player for a couple more years and see how he does.

RE: How Long Will it Take For the Conference
Memphis could turn it around quickly with the right coach in place. There's so much talent coming out of the city in 2019, and it would be a big jolt to our roster/ program. However, Tubby wont get any of them. He probably wont even hardly recruit them. He'll just keep getting his $3M a year, picking the low hanging juco fruit, having lousy OOC schedules, finishing between 5th-9th in AAC while a couple thousand people with nothing better to do go watch the home games. At some point, we'll buy him out when we can afford it, or in 5 years they'll hire someone else and hope the damage done by Pastner and this lazy washed up bum can be repaired.
It still blows my mind that for $3 million a year, this was the best they could do and/or the choice they made.

Don't hire people that can be called Tubby. That's what I always say. You needed to learn from your conference mates.

Memphis will never be Memphis yall want with Tubby as coach. We might get to 20 wins some season but 18k in the seats wont happen while he is coach. The fanbase has checked out on him and itll be near impossible for him to get them back.

RE: How Long Will it Take For the Conference
Based on Tubby’s performance (eg, only one NCAA Tourney win the past ten seasons), there is no evidence to suggest Tubby can restore the Tigers to relevancy. I do not see the Tigers contributing to the AAC’s pedigree under Tubby. Hopefully, we will not become an RPI anchor.
The good news is the infrastructure is in place for high level success.

Tubby and Ollie are very similar. Both gotta go.

At least UConn obtained a NC under Ollie. We have reaped nothing from Tubby except millions of dollars of cost for him and his son (one of the Assistant Coaches).

Tubby used his "win a National Championship with someone else's players" on Kentucky. They are the same person.
