Everyone quick to blame the coach and not the players. The coach is still learning how to be a head coach. He might get there, he might not, but I still remain unconvinced that this team has "tremendous talent"

do they have so little talent that they were never really in a game against a team that Jax State absolutely destroyed.

i agree, that we dont have final4 talent, but with the total lack of fundamental basketball, i dont think Ehsan will ever be a good head coach for us

The problem with these seniors is they don't show up for games. William Lee has never played well before January.
An experienced coach might be able to motivate them to play harder. We don't have an experienced coach. We have a coach learning on the job. That is what the fans want, yet aren't patient enough.

I just don't understand this. Play every single play of every game like it's going to be the last play of your life. No less effort than that. Ever.

this game is an indicator of things that might come.

we cant' beat a garbage team on a neutral court.

we will get run out of Denton unless we can start knocking down shots.

Yeah, the post-season ban would make planning for March way easier.

Which one Lavender or Norton? I doubt Lavender leads us in TO's.

Memphis Blazer is right from the standpoint that it doesn’t impact anything with postseason. CUSA is proving to be just as terrible. Only the auto bid will go. Doubt any even get considered for NIT unless tourney champ and regular season champ don’t match.

Lavenders ratio of minutes played to turnovers is atrocious!

Unfortunately all that matters is the auto-bid in this conference. In that context, a non-conference loss is inconsequential. It's depressing we've fallen to this point.

RE: Cayman Island Game Thread: Spiders Edition
I'll have to leave player evaluations and coaching in game strategy to those of you who know the sport from experience. What I have seen before is that good recruiters are not always the best gamer coaches. Recruiting prowess is why some assistants don't become HCs but continue to find employment in their sport.

What I do know is that UAB has its BBHC for this season, and unless one has great reason to believe an assistant is a "diamond in the rough" waiting to be the interim HC, Ehsan is it for this season. I hope he succeeds and has a good season from here on out. One game can be a sign of things to come or just an anomaly along the way.

Question from a radio listener for one who saw the game -- Is Norton playing like he did before his second knee injury or is he playing more cautiously, like he is not yet confident?

I am glad somebody finally hit the nail on the head on this thread.

Zero fast break points for the game, only nine assists, sixteen turnovers, thirty three percent from the field. Down by sixteen at halftime. OMG! They must have stayed up all night.

Finally, Grant Golden, all "six foot ten and two hundred and sixty pounds" of him, ate UAB's lunch and dinner and scored twenty six points. Great defense, Blazers!

Yep! This team didn't go to the Cayman Islands to play basketball. They went on vacation.
