We're a football conference now. You should've checked it out before you signed up.
Then why are you checking out a basketball thread on a Friday night in November?
Because the SMU @ Memphis football game isn't until tomorrow and I feel the need to correct newbies' misperceptions.

I don't think you know what Good defense is or something. UC can have a game where they shoot 35% and still win, because they play good defense. 43% isn't good but with good defense you can easily win a game shooting at that level. As a UC fan, I've seen it done many times.
Houston's lack of Defense lost them this game. Not like Drexel lit it up from 3, they made just 2 more 3's than Houston. But when you literally can't guard with out fouling (hallmark sign of bad defense) and you allow the opposing team to take 31 free throws, then its your defense not the shooting thats the problem.
With Good defense, scoring 80 points most teams ranked 200+ in kenpom.
Man, if sampson goes into the locker room and says that you guys did good on defense and keep this up, then UC and WSU will put up a 100+ with zero issues. My guess Sampson tells his team to defend, not just make more 3's dude
but again you are missing style of play, cincy before this season was a defensive team..
the key concept of your team was defense..
houston major concept is high pace and scoring (mostly from the 3). our top 3 guard career wise are 40%+ 3 point shooter.
houstons defense isnt elite, but it wasnt created to be elite...
and knowing sampson post game, i doubt he'll make a huge deal out of anything...when we lost by 20 to a bad lsu last year, he said "you can draw plays to create shots but if you are getting those shots and they arent going in when they regularly do, theres nothing you can do. it wasnt our night" he not an over-reactor
think about it, if houston even shoots half of our shooting capabilities we win by 30 tonight.. in your argument, houston got to 80 points on a bad offensive night for us too...and we left 5-6 points on the court on missed free throws that would have sealed the game..
Dude, Houston shot 27% from 3. That will happen again this year. If you generously peg your team as a 40% shooting team that is only 3 more made threes this game. Sure, you might have won if you shot a little better but you lost because it was the same old story with Houston: you all can't guard a traffic cone.
If Houston can't beat a top 200 team when they don't shoot their averages, then they aren't even an NIT team. Seriously.
i mean outside of gray...everyone else on the team shot 2-18...including 3 regular 40% 3 point shooters....
i dont expect gray to drop 37 again, but i surely dont expect such a low number from the supporting cast eiter
UH will shoot better overall most nights, but I agree its disconcerting that your star can play out of his mind and no one could give enough to beat a outside top 200 team. We get it, it was an off night shooting they happen to everyone, but if you star is going off you hope to get enough from the rest of your team to be able to win on an off night from 3. Like y'all shot 47% from the field (4 point better than Drexel) and lost. Woof.
Tulsa almost got the W over ISU. That would have been a good win. ISU is way down this year, obviously, but a win over a B12 is a win over B12 wish yall had pulled it out. Excited to watch Temple against Clemson. Rose looks awesome from the tidbits I saw.

oh man, tulsa almost didn't beat iowa state. props to tulane. that's a tough ram team. temple needs to fire its coach. bring in edgar padilla. as mentioned on our board, ecu should stand for east charlotte university (as in uncc takes your place for basketball). houston loses enough games like this to make losing to them look bad. unfortunately, a few of us will. there's your aac games today and i didn't watch a single one

Congrats TULANE! I don't know how consistent you will be this year, but you looked impressive. I'm glad the Shox don't face you in New Orleans. Keep it up in the remainder of the OOC schedule.

RE: 11/17 AAC Basketball Games
Looks like Cincy fans are just as brutal as us new kids on the block. Rough day. I'm encouraged by Temple, verdict is still out on SMU and potentially UConn, and Tulane looks like they could surprise this year. I'm highly expectant that WSU and Cincy flat out own this conference. Looking a lot like last years AAC, but holding out hope that Temple, SMU and/or UConn can earn a spot at the dance. I don't mean to rub it in, but I'm really hopeful that ECU wipes the slate clean in their athletic department in every sport, my heart goes out to Pirate fans.

the AAC needs Temple to be Temple
Now if UConn and Memphis could follow suit, it'd be much appreciated

I just checked the scores just now and I'm shocked ECU lost to loli Central Connecticut state, they used to be pretty good in basketball but they suck now, lebo's should definitely be fired.

The good:
Tulane rising!
Temple off to a good start (but that happened last year too)
The bad:
Tulsa being Tulsa.
ECU being ECU

He's probably talking about the Howie Dickenman era. They weren't that good. Unless you consider a handful of tourney appearances in 20 years being good, that is. Obviously BC Stookey thinks so.

Houston is a 7.5 point favorite. You read it wrong or the site you were looking at had it flipped (ESPN is notorious for doing this.)
