Is usf still an active bombing range? If so, our pilots need more training because that neighborhood around it still looks like it's being bombed.**

We were busy beautifying our campus. Now we have a Ritz Carlton of a campus. You, on the other hand, have a Ramada Inn of a campus complete with a urine-filled pool. Oh, and a rusty BrokeHouse.

usf is still trying to polish a ?. You my ignorant fool have never stepped foot on UCF's campus, but like many usf fanboys will lie and just keep pretending.

Nice try. I have been to your campus. You try, the circular campus is a good idea, but other than that-USF's Tampa campus destroys UCF's. Our buildings are newer and better built, there's a clear theme to how the buildings are designed, and not only that, there's green and gold everywhere. Just about the only "original USF" buildings left are cooper hall and the administration building, and the only old-era building other than those is the old USF business building. We also have much better Olympic sports facilities. Come over to Tampa one day and tell me to my face you have better baseball, softball, and soccer stadiums. Come over and tell me the Muma basketball facility is worse than whatever you have. Come. I'm waiting.

Are you guys really arguing over who has the more "pretty campus"? Really? Wow things must be slow on this board...

Over what period were these monies raised?

P.S. The Ulrich Museum of Art’s Martin H. Bush Outdoor Sculpture Collection boasts 76 works spread across the 330-acre Wichita State University campus. Public Art Review named this collection among the Top Ten campus sculpture collections in 2006.

Suck it!

All that money and all that time in a bcs affiliated conference and still no conference championships. I'm glad I'm not you. 07-coffee3

LOL, yes "all that time." 8 glorious years (2005-2012 seasons), an era during which such other dregs as Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Washington and UCLA didn't win any conference titles either.

I get the zeal to go after the easy "empty trophy case" jokes, but let's not act like USF experienced decades of futility.

Wierd. Doing a search for "UCF," "bowl" and "press conference" pulls up this article too:

I don't know how easy it will be to find it, but UCF announced a big (like $10MM) donation coming from a local woman, had a press conference, toured her around the campus with a few photo ops, then somebody found out she actually didn't have any money. It was quickly swept under the rug. I think it was during the Kruzcek era.

No objective person could ever say that "USF's Tampa campus destroys UCF's." USF's campus isn't anywhere near the embarrassment that some folks would have you believe, nor is UCF's campus some bastion of beauty beyond compare. But UCF's campus definitely looks nicer than USF's.

Hahahaha. Maybe if you guys keep repeating to yourselves that the S. Florida campus looks better, it may become true. No?

Too funny...

Some of you may not know your history but UCF fans are not kidding when they say the S. Florida campus was a bombing range. It actually was part of an abandoned military airfield at the time that it was chartered as a university. In fact, just south of the campus, you can still see the runways from the former Hillsborough Army Airfield which then became Henderson Airport before closing to make way for the university.

Meanwhile, the UCF land was specifically sought out by the state due to its proximity to the burgeoning space center at Cape Canaveral, which would later be renamed the John F. Kennedy Space Center.

This allowed the UCF campus to be master-planned, as opposed to trying to jam a state university into an existing area. That's why UCF has the luxury of space and constant construction/improvement (Under Construction Forever) and that's why East Orlando is more of a college town than Temple Terrace. Literally everything surrounding UCF came after the university was already established.

This explains why the area around UCF is higher end while the area surrounding the South Florida campus is a bit... rougher.

For kicks, I looked up the number of pawn shops surrounding each school. I remember one of my good childhood friends went to South Florida and one of the very first things he shared with me about the area was how many pawn shops there were. Looks like things haven't changed.

While some universities strive to build lazy rivers, real research universities brag about the number of research buildings and a world class cancer center on its campus.
