Was sitting on fence wether Penny should be our next coach, but the only way I see us getting back to relevance is hiring Penny. He has more talent at East high school than we have on our roster right now. If not Penny, then someone who can recruit and has tons of energy


I don't care how good of a coach Tubby was in his prime, he's a terrible recruiter and that includes the coaches he recruits for his staff. If you don't start with something to work with, your ceiling is low.

As a lifetime Tiger fan going back to the early 80's, this program is absolutely in a free fall, and it hurts. What's worse is until we finally fire Tubby and that day is coming, we have no hope of this getting better.

Yes we will win some games, but it's against crappy teams, our attendance will continue to shrink and we will lose fans until this ship has a new caption

Folks, Penny is totally not ready to coach any major college program.

The risks involved in hiring him have been explored in dozens of threads over many years, so please get this thought out of your heads.

Penny is a great guy and an amazing ambassador for the University of Memphis, but he ain't head coaching material at this point in time.

We have a state of the art shell of a program.

I wouldn't be opposed to keeping the three freshmen and getting rid of everyone else.

The program needs an enema in the worst way and a COMPLETE reboot, from scratch.

Talking about Penny as the next Tiger coach is a crazy as UT Vol nation wanting John Gruden as the next football coach.

And located in Memphis as high school seniors are a great shooter and 'very good' ball handler. No excuses....

I'd take Lawson over Saul as third coach any day if the week.

If you can't see it by now you're ignoring it. Recruiting isn't going to get better. He's not going to become a better coach. THis year is likely no post-season. Next year is probably no postseason also. Would we keep him a 4th year? I can't see why. So now or in 2 years makes no difference. The money is a sunk cost

I just hate we as a fan base seem to have greater expectation than he does.
