How do you know and who are you to judge? Kid is probably just excited to get to play. So was his mom according to her tweets.

His mom was very proud. She was tweeting about it. I doubt she cares what some turd from Canada thinks about it.

My Freshman year, I got to dress vs. Wichita St. late in the season. Coach Armstrong put me in on kickoff coverage and I made two tackles. Three weeks later Fred Webb had to be held out of the Louisville game because he had played in the JV game at Ole Miss. So, I travelled to Louisville and covered four more kickoffs. To the staff, at the time, I was just a walk-on expendable DB and I was thrilled to get to play as a freshman.

Should we really even care about a backup QB at UT?

McBride can suck it for de-committing.

Just kidding. LOL

I wish him the best

UT just lost a 5 Star committment, CADE MAYS, who was a UT legacy that had been committed for 2 1/2 years. Bad things keep happening.

That still doesn't change the fact about the coach and some message board idiot's opinion. What kind of an idiot defends Butch Jones? Google "Butch Jones burns redshirt" and you will see what the entire planet thinks of the idiot's dick move.

I would list links stating that Jones is an idiot, but there are so many of them, better just to link the Google search.

Butch Jones The Idiot

The kid was happy. His mom’s happy. Dayum, Stammers, did Butch forget to call you on your birthday?

Butch Jones, you, 3601 vs. The rest of the planet

Tough call on who is right or wrong.

I'm sure they'll still be thrilled in December when they realized they lost a redshirt year over 6 plays.

Just speaking from a position of someone who’s actually done it. You and Stammers feel free to offer your advice to Davis, the kid or his mom on what a **** up move it was. Share with all of us when they get back to you.

I understand that you have blinders and are just looking at it from your perspective, but try and think clearly looking at the big picture.

UT went through a stretch where they scored 16 points in 3 games, and idiot Jones didn't give McBride any playing time, even though their quarterbacks passed for an average of 86 yards per game. In the 8 games prior their quarterbacks averaged 175 yards passing with 7 touchdowns and 7 interceptions, averaging 6.5 yards per attempt, and the idiot Jones didn't give McBride a single snap.

You can't go wrong if you question anything that the moron coach does, based on his track record. As for mom and the quarterback, we will see how they feel if he strings together a couple more 1-8 performances for 13 yards, or if the idiot coach decides to play Guantamino the rest of the season.

Again, the common sense opinion is that Jones is an idiot and burning the redshirt because of 3 plays was idiotic. If you and 3601 want to align yourself with an idiot coach, go for it.

This won't cost him a redshirt. We've had several players get a few snaps in a season and not have to burn a redshirt. Funny idea, but not realistic.

It depends on when you take the redshirt. If it is at the beginning of the season like Will Hudgens, you don't lose it. McBride's redshirt is permanently burned after UT only needed him for 3 plays against USM.

What you are saying is funny. If it was true, teams would be playing all of their good redshirt players at the end of the season and in bowl games. It doesn't work that way. McBride will be a sophomore next season.

TonyDaTiger doesn't know the rule.

Unless McBride is injured, and UT claims and is granted a medical redshirt, then his redshirt is burned. Once a player plays a single play, his eligibility for a season is used.

Name one that didn't involve a documentable injury.

For the know it all Canuck....

LINK:Will McBride’s Family is Thrilled!

Will's parents were amused to see a tweet from Stephanie become a conversation topic on the SEC Network's telecast of the game. Stephanie posted she was "speechless" as her son made his unexpected collegiate debut. Some interpreted that to mean she was upset Will lost his redshirt for this season by entering the game.

Jere said it would have been great to see Will redshirt — which allows a year of practice and development without playing — but he made it clear Mom and Dad harbor no animosity about the way things worked out.

"Certainly, we were excited," Jere said. "How can you not be? Basically, it's really out of your control. The circumstances and where you are on the depth chart are really going to dictate these things. Basically, you're just kind of along for the ride. I think, obviously, they didn't have any choice but to use him. We weren't upset about it."

I'm no Butch fan, but in his defense, he did say prior to the Southern Miss game that McBride would play if Guarantano left the field.

Parents are happy, kid seems ok with it, know it all Canuck proven wrong again - seems like a good outcome to me.

Yep. Seems he just has jilted Ron Bell-like issues with Butch in Post #2.
