In defense of regular Miami fans ... on average most bandwagon fans aren't fun. But for whatever reason Miami's seem to be a few standard deviations worse than a normal sample.
The U grads I know are all good people, though when you're a small, selective private school charging $50K a year you're gonna get pretty decent students to come in and behave relative to bandwagoners. Everyone else is negatively influenced by the whole U culture, like Cubs fans reacting to Moises Alou shouting at Bartman times a thousand.

I attended the 1980 Miami game in South Bend when the Hurricanes QB was some guy named Jim Kelly. ND won, 32-14.
Lol, I go back to the days whem the Canes had George Mira and the Gators had Steve Spurrier. Both were very good
The only major college game I ever attended was the 1962 Miami vs. Air Force at the brand new Falcon Stadium. The George Mira lead Hurricanes beat the Falcons that day.

Not sure if anyone here remembered Miami played in the Liberty Bowl when it was in Philadelphia.

That seems to be a kinda-sorta-maybe compliment so I will take it. Isn't college FB best when ND and Miami are very good? It the duality that makes this the most intriguing matchup this week. There are other very important games Saturday that will help determine ND and the U's fate. But there is only one that has most all FB fans excited with national title implications. That's the "U" and ND. And that's true to the finicky South Florida fans, even old diehards, long time supporters like myself, and the late comers, bandwagon joining, event-of-the-moment, casual South Florida fans.

Could there be any more two diverse and polar opposite schools in the US? Maybe Liberty or BYU. Liberty won't achieve any noticeable FBS success, if any for years having just achieved FBS. BYU, when successful has generated interest, but nothing compared to ND or the "U".
