Also of note...Troy is 1 of 4 teams that have only allowed 24 or fewer points all year
Alabama, Wisconsin and Washington are the other 3

A-State leads the nation in sacks and is 5th in TFL . . .
DL Coach Brian Early was nominated for the Broyles Award as a result.

I like the match-up against our O line vs the redwolves D line. 21st in sacks allowed and 10th in TFLs...this one will be good.

No you will not like the match up at all.
The only question in this game is will they beat you worse than last year. I say there is a very good chance they will.
I did watch Troy and AppSt this past week, and while Troy is better neither team is very good. I said they were trending toward being bad, but I was being nice.
A-State is just a good football team, in every area, trending toward being very good. They could be outstanding, but that will probably come next year.

It was certainly the matchup that won us the game last season...

We'll, golly gee wiz...nobody else can trend upwards but the team you like, but don't like? The beautiful thing about your statement is that arrogance I've grown to admire from the red wolves. Troy may not be that good right now, but they're a 2 loss team that's getting a little better each week. Talent vs talent...we'll be ok.

First my comment about being nice in using trending was directed at AppSt, Troy is not a bad team.
You guys keep on clinging to the idea that what they do in the OOC has anything to do with what they will do in the SBC. You would think by now you would know better.
Troys problem is they are not a good team either, but in-between good and bad,and really don't have the overall talent/depth to be a good one.
The other problem for Troy, and all the other SBC teams, is A-State is just a much more talented team than any SBC team, and it is hard to contain that talent for four quarters.
Since Anderson started calling plays, coaching QB's, and co-coordinating the offense, the coaching gap between them and the better SBC staffs went away. Well almost.

I think you're really over-estimating StAte's talent level and how it's "hard to contain."
LSU would've said the same thing, but that 5-star and 4-star talent wasn't that hard to contain for Troy considering we were beating them 24-7 with 7 minutes left in the game.
I also think you underestimate the talent on Troy's team, and the overall speed and athleticism. You definitely don't know what you're talking about when it comes to Troy not having any overall depth.

A State as well as Troy still have some football to play before they meet...hopefully neither team takes a loss...obviously this would set up the defacto SBC conference championship game...should be good for attendance...and should add some big time excitement.
Troy scares me...we beat them last year after they had a tough game against Appy and if memory serves me it was a short week for Troy when we played...I tend to think that playing 2 tough opponents on only a few days of rest can effect the outcome of the second game. I'm not saying it did...just saying it may have...

Arkansas would have said the same thing when playing Coastal, and it would have been true.
Everything I have seen has your talent in the upper half of the SBC, and your coaching staff could be the best.
Coaches have to get their talent focused and ready to play, and that is really hard to do when the players study films of the opponent. Probably the biggest challenge facing a coaching staff, and an area A-State has certainly struggled in under Anderson & Company. They have been lucky that their talent could perform poorly and sill win most SBC game.

I was counting on the Old Blake Anderson showing up when I predicted they would lose an SBC game. I mean there was no tangible reason to predict a loss, and I knew they would be favored in all their SBC games.
Still have four games for him to return,so I'm not giving up, but I'm beginning to worry the old Blake has left the building.

With that said, I think both teams will acquit themselves well. I'll be pulling for Troy.

No just not a fan, so I don't have to set aside reality because I don't like it.
It is a FACT A-State has the most talented roster of players in the SBC to cobble a team out of. Does not matter if they like it or you like it, it just is what it is.
Barring a lot of injuries they will be favored in every SBC game. Does not matter if they like it or you like it, it just is what it is.
I also know for a fact they have lost some SBC games under Anderson that they were favored in, and should have won easily, and took that is to consideration when I predicted they would lose a game, maybe two.
Problem is they changed things on me, and Anderson is not doing what he has done in the past. Well excuse me! Might be wrong about them suffering a loss in SBC play.
