RE: 2017 basketball
Jeff Jones must stay. He called me at home last night just to encourage me to come to the opener on Friday. If he cares that much about individual fans, you know he cares enough to win. Oddly, he didn't respond to any of my questions. Maybe my phone was not properly working.

No one percieves this program to be 190th in the country. Find me some support that nationally, people think we are bottom half of CUSA.

He caught me at the office, and was equally non-responsive.
But that's no surprise. No one else here listens to me either.

I was surprised by that. I certainly expect us to be better than GMU and Liberty and hopefully Richmond this season. There have been quite a few years where we were the number one team in Virginia, and my expectations for the program are to be somewhere in the top 3 or 4 in most years.

We'll have to earn it. It isn't going to come in the form of a preseason prediction, playing in CUSA, following a 19 win season, and losing 2 4-year starters and our 6 man. This is the data that someone not following the team closely is going to look at. I personally would predict us in the 100-130 range with the potential to be better if everything comes together and JJ lets them play... or worse if we suffer an injury or suspensions, but I can see where he is coming from.

I know I'm knitpicking but Jordan was a 3-year starter.

I think a faster pace would improve fan and student support. I heard winning also helps.....

RE: 2017 basketball
The good news is that all of the offseason banter becomes useless starting tomorrow night. I personally don't see us in the NCAA's in March, but I hope I am wrong.

Didnt miss much. Prerecorded message from JJ and Nikki in a joint effort to sell out the Ted for the doubleheader. I was just happy it wasn't Ted yelling at me.

RE: 2017 basketball
I just saw that Empty Sue played an early game today and beat Trevecca Nazarene 104-52. I'm sorry, but why even schedule these games. I have followed college basketball closely for 40 years and have never heard of them. These types of games KILL the strength of schedule for our conference.

I agree 100%. P5 schedule midmajors to get ready for conference play because it is so grueling. Also some mid majors add value to their SOS. Mid majors should never play DII schools or lower. C-USA teams need to be scheduling other strong mid major teams to add to their SOS so that if they are on the bubble come march and they see you played VCU, Middle Tenn, Saint Marys, UNLV, and other strong mid major programs. Playing Trevecca Nazarene does absolutely nothing to help your schedule and actually hurts you. Pathetic that 6 C-USA teams are opening with DII teams.

Here are some of the other beauties CUSA schools are playing over the next week:
Eureka, Florida Memorial, Texas-Tyler, East Central, Edward Waters and Lemoyne-Owen
