Bergdahl is scum but I’m actually okay with this result. No matter what happens from here on out, gets absolute Zero in the way of health-care, pension, or other VA benefits. He can’t (legally) possess a firearm anywhere in the United States. He is a lifelong pariah to a majority (not everyone, it’s true) of the US population. Those are not easy burdens to carry for the rest of your life, starting at age 31.

The Taliban aren't stupid (they've resisted the lone superpower for 15 years, and broke the other superpower before that); they had to assume these guys were traceable. No one will ever prove it: their side won't admit they killed their own and ours won't admit we outsourced our killing.

I acknowledge the logic of that scenario. But believing that it’s true =/= knowing that it’s true.
And I personally would have no qualms whatsoever about “admitting” that we outsourced the killings. Hell, I’d be proclaiming it if I knew it was true.
