Also I have faith in coach mo, he just got a team that has talent but wasn't recruited for his style of play and doesnt have much depth at the key position (QB) because of the old regime only recruiting one player a year there.

Smart move to milk more $$$ from existing seats rather than adding unneeded capacity.

It's more press box than anything. No way we make any money off it.

Incorrect. That's the entire point of the suites. They decided to add 4 more b/c of demand.

Demand, which for years they said was never there.

how about you not expand football and just spend the money on a basketball coach?

Easier to get donors to donate for football expansion. Plus this has been scheduled since TH.

New expansion should increase capacity to 51,500
Some thoughts on comparing DFS capacity to P5* stadiums:

12 - the number of P5* stadiums Dowdy-Ficklen is currently larger than or equal to
ACC 4, Big-10 1, Big-12 3, Pac-12 3, SEC 1

16 - the number of P5* stadiums Dowdy-Ficklen will be larger than or equal to after planned expansion
ACC 4, Big-10 2, Big-12 4, Pac-12 5, SEC 1

27 - the number of P5* stadiums Dowdy-Ficklen would be larger than or equal to if we ever get that bump to 60,000
ACC 7, Big-10 6, Big-12 5, Pac-12 8, SEC 1

ECU would never sell out 60,000 seats for every game in the foreseeable future, but would sell out some games.

Yea the issue with us is if we play local P5s we can put 60000 in the stands. If we are having a good year for conference games we can put probably 50000. What will be nice is when Cincinnati, UCF, and USF get back into the Top 25 yearly for the east. Pirates will come out when a conference member is ranked or doing well. Not much support when we are ok and we play a 4-3 team mid season.

This is true. I donate to football and the business school. Pirate club does spread the wealth out to some non-sports activities like basketball, but I try to send it to earmarked funds when possible. BS programs like band, basketball, and drama can walk the plank.

Mostly agree. Home conference games averaged 42,450 last year in a 3 win season. As ECU improves, and especially if opponents improve, I think we could average closer to 50,000 for conference games. The stadium expansion should help with interest for 2018.

I just hate it's not going to be ready in time for the 2018 season.

RE: ECU getting bids for football stadium expansion
I hear people 'round here talking about how we should delay this project because of the low attendance (our low attendance still #1 in AAC, lol), but that doublewide in the sky needs to go. Our press box is decades overdue for a makeover. It's still the right time to move forward with this IMO.

This has nothing to do with attendance. It's not really an expansion. More of a renovation (reconstruction) in addition to player amenity project.

We're trying to get rid of mobile home in the sky, why would we want an aluminium shed to be the replacement?

Agreed.

The only way we expand moving forward is filling in the bowl and even then if I was in charge I would have that be a second boneyard for students to open up the current student overflow for salable tickets.

Hey hey now! They used low grade Chinese steel, not aluminum.

They actually used breadsticks and shellac
