I do. Having Montana come to BFS for the playoff game felt about as "Big-time" as JMU could get and there has been no competition come to Harrisonburg or on our schedule that gets the juices flowing as much as playing Appy. They were our standard. Today it's NDSU.

Yeah, FCS was way better with App around. At least Delaware is starting to come back around. That should help fill the gap and bring a little excitement back. Of course, that naturally means the CAA is about to make sure we don't play them again for another 4 years.

I'm just not sure why Dukester is so $adface. I mean my examples weren't the best - Appy's gone and Montana is having their worst season(s) in their history lately. Is it "not as interesting as it used to be" because you don't see more than one or two "rivals" that we know well? Sure there are no rivals in the top 10 that we play regularly. The rest of the conference is hovering around 10-23 and I think most of us would rank them a little differently. The rest of our schedule we play #17 this week, unranked, #19, and #10. That doesn't really sound exciting to me either though.
BUT #1 IS PRETTY ******* EXCITING

RE: Weekly FCS Top 25
Seems like forever since JMU hosted a regular season game where the team coming in " intimidated" us like the Ga So/App St/YSU games of the late 80's and early 90's. The air crackled with intensity during some of those games. I expected the NDSU game to be like that but it turned out to be not even close. We have grown.

The only matchup that would get a completely juiced fanbase is having North Dakota St come to Harrisonburg in the playoffs. That would top any game JMU has ever hosted.
I don’t think there are any other teams in FCS that would exceed the allure of the annual Richmond game. That is a great rivalry for FCS standards

I liked that poll until number 5. Having SHSU in the 5 spot is utter crap. I get that a lot of teams lost, but SHSU should not be that high. They are going to do what they always do... beat up on cupcakes and get a top 4 seed. Then they are going to have their @sses handed to them when they actually have to play a real football team.
Just like every other year.

Wow.
Man you guys really missed what I was saying.
I was meaning I used to check where JMU was after they won.
Now that they are so firmly entrenched in #1 spot after a win there's nothing new to see.
Montana/ASU ? Very creative.

Central Arkansas at #4 might be worse, also from the SLC.
Their only real accomplishment is beating SHSU.
Probably half the CAA teams would destroy them, and yet they are #4 in the country? Two SLC teams in the top 5? WTF?

RE: Weekly FCS Top 25
Like was said in the other thread, the polls are complete garbage. Worst is the Coaches:
-UD better CAA and overall record than RU, won the head to head, but RU #17 and UD unranked.
-SBU equal overall and better CAA record than UNH, won the head to head, but UNH #16 and -SBU unranked.
-SUU (5-2) better record than EWU (5-3), just beat EWU by 18, yet EWU #12, and SUU unranked.
-SUU better record than UNI, won the head to head, but UNI #25 and SUU unranked.
NC A&T #6? Really? Thats obviously a ridiculous joke..
STATS not much better. I wouldn't pay any poll other than AGS any attention..The playoff committee obviously doesn't pick and seed the field by the polls- example remember last year SHSU in the major polls but were the #5 seed..

RE: Weekly FCS Top 25
Does anyone else have an issue with YSU still being ranked with a losing record? I realize they play in a very tough conference and had a close game or two, but if you can't win the close games I don't think its an excuse to be ranked above teams with winning records. I guess going to the NC last year has some weight, but it again shows how preseason polls effect those later in the year. That's just my 2 cents...

I think YSU would wipe the floor with half the Top 10 (Samford, Wofford, NC A&T, Central Ark, and Sam Houston). The FCS power scale is becoming a joke.

If that was the case YSU wouldn't have lost 3 straight, including to 3 loss UNI. YSU has injuries at QB and both sides of the line suffered in recent weeks. They are headed south..

At last count YSU has 23 quarterbacks. You really think those teams are comparable to a YSU team that took NDSU to overtime, lost to Pitt in overtime, and lost on a last minute field goal to SD? MVFC is a meat grinder, maybe YSU came out of the UNI game with injuries and is trending down but if they played any of those teams I listed prior to this week they would have crushed them. Southland and this year's Southern are anemic. Go consult your stats.

I don't doubt that YSU is a good team and has suffered injuries, but do you think a 3 win JMU team would be ranked similarly if they had lost in OT to ECU (Yes I know they're much worse than Pitt but Pitt is only 3-5), lost to, say Villanova in OT, and lost in the last minute to Delaware? I don't think so.
I get that the MVFC is tough, but so is the CAA. I think they are getting a little too much credit.

My point isn't about where YSU should be ranked, it's about how over-ranked NC A&T and those Southland/Southern schools are.

Yep, it’s the NDSU glow of success to some degree.
Read an article written by an NDSU media stats voter. They basically vote all the MVC teams super high to help the Bizon (think seeding and SOS). You would hope this regional bias evens out some, but not sure it does.

Try paying attention. I specifically mentioned NC A&T being #6 is a joke, and on the other thread mentioned Wofford at #5 as a joke.
MVFC is tough no doubt, but they are getting a little too much credit IMHOP.
SUU beat UNI who just knocked off YSU.
NAU lost to WIU, but beat ILSU by 3 TDs, who just beat SD by a couple TDs, who knocked off YSU.
And back in Sept everyone was saying the Big Sky sucked..
