why do thousands of fans get to the game late then leave early. Bugs the crap out of me seeing a few thousand fans leave in the 4th qt of a close game. Western fans are like that also. No matter how close a game is a couple thousand fans leave with the game very much in doubt.
Thanks for the gift....without them I doubt Western wins this game. I do think Western has the more talented team but a coach still learning hurts us. But that was a AWFUL call by the ODU coach or OC. Pound the ball at the middle of the line and then pop it outside....this game was over.
Asking a 17 year old to go deep into double coverage was a bonehead decision. Game changing one. As for the personal foul probably shouldn't have been called. But bad or missed calls are part of it. I bet if you go back and watch the replay you will see a hands to the face of White on the first Western drive that wasn't called. You will also see a clear grab and hold on a long ODU run that ended in a TD
From the replay on the board it looked like a hard hit but probably goes uncalled 90% of the time. That was just one of those 10% of the time. I've seen worse not called and some clear misses called...its part of the game
Good or bad call Western needed it and that stupid call of go long and the int is what ODU fans should be pissed at. That was the game charger
Harper had both guys beat. It was set up perfectly all game and then Williams underthrew the pass. No issue goimg for the win.
Thought there was a runoff, didnt matter but was confused about That.
Hard fought game, and White showed why hes best QB in conference. Pretty much single handidly won it. The only games we rvwr have that are chippy are vs WKY, the teams dont like each other at all.
Not trying to be bitter but 69 and 23 should show some class after the game. No need to act like idiots at mid field and rub it in.
No idea what Nord was doing but Echols-Luper has been known to be a 'spirited' player long before he ever arrived at Western. So far this year he hasn't had a penalty that I can remember and has conducted himself well on the field.
I'll take your word that they were a little too happy after winning a game that they were down by 10 in the 4th quarter.
Echols-Luper wouldn't remember since he wasn't here but most of the returning players would certainly remember the melee last year so there's no love lost by either group of players when we hook up. I'll give your team credit for busting our guys in the mouth tonight after what happened last year.
Mike White made some big time throws tonight and some of our receivers made big catches for him.

That's coming next week. I hope.
Let's take it one day at a time.
I'm absolutely sure the team will. As a fan, I don't need to. The bottom line is this. WKU is still the most talented team in CUSA. I don't think that's really in question. Our problem so far is our young, inexperienced coaching staff (and maybe just bad, but too early to say for sure). No, we're not as good as the last two years, but we're still talented. We'll see if the coaching catches up to the talent.

Even though it was a bad call it doesn't mean we wouldn't still scored. That's football, get bad call for u and get bad calls against u. Good game by the way. Lawry makes a big difference in your offense.

Correct. Just frustrating. It would have been 3rd and 7 and our pass rush was getting after it all night. I would have like our odds at holding to Fg but you never know. Its like the guy was on the ground hurt so it HAD TO BE A PENALTY!
White was impressive in person. Just a really good QB. Only time we stopped him was when they were pressuring QB.

Even the announcers thought it was a bad call.
If u want to feel true frustration just go back and watch WKU when we first transitioned. We invented ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. We were like 0 for forever before we turned around. Just go to stick with it. Your day will come.
This is true frustration. Losing a bball game on a layup with about 4 second left in a game that was tied when the other team had 6 players on the court that the refs missed and it isn't considered reviewable.
The only good thing that came out of this is it ended up being Ken McDonald's last game as our coach.
ODU has a great running back and young QB has a lot of upside once he becomes more experienced.

At least our fans buy tickets. We support a team that might win 3 or 4 games better than WKU supports a 2-time conference champ.
I would have said at the beginning of the game that if we lose by less than 30, it's a moral victory. So there we go, moral victory for us. We played much better against WKU than we ever have before, giving them a game that wasn't over by halftime. Much credit goes to the WKU team showing poise and being able to come back from down 10(?) entering the 4th on the road. Coming close and losing never feels great, but it is a small piece of optimism in an otherwise sad year for us. We've missed Lawry, clearly. We should expect to struggle with a 17 year old qb. If there are any odu fans who are hopeful for a bowl game, much credit to you. I gave up on that after FAU -30. Now we need to go 4-1 against @UNT, Char, @FIU, Rice, @MTSU. Not seeing it.
We know our attendance sucks. Guns pointed that out.
As for the game... our running game is still 3 yards and a cloud of dust. When White has time he’s deadly. I’m really surprised we were able to score 2 touchdowns late to win. Hopefully that’ll be a confidence boost for the boys going forward.
Apologies to the western fans for my language on here last night. I was pretty mad and tailgated pretty hard if you know what I'm saying.... congrats on the win. It was at least a very fun game to watch

That's the point. WKU fans shouldn't even broach the subject. If you want to dog our facilities or recruiting or our play calling, have at it. Y'all are clearly ahead of us in these areas. But WKU fans have no place to be judgemental about attendance or fans.

Classy post and lots of us have been in the same situation .
ODU played really hard yesterday & your RB that came back is solid. ODU may just 4 out of the next 5 with that kind of effort. I think we have played WKU a half dozen times with White as QB and he is really good.

I've never understood our attendance issues. I get why attendance dropped through the floor during our FBS transition years. We were TERRIBLE. But, many of us still attended every game (myself included). However, the past 4 years we've put a great and very entertaining product on the field. I don't get the fan apathy. One problem is we have a lot of "fans" that tailgate but don't go to the games. We also have a lot of students that show up for a half or so and leave. Go figure. I believe some of it can be attributed to the fact that WKU (actually the entire state in general) is traditionally a basketball school. I just wish the community as a whole would support and appreciate the program and its accomplishments. The real fans are quite rabid. The casual fans not so much.

Tell me about them. You should have seen the crews they sent to work our previous home stand in Legion Field and UAB still managed to win...They we're horrible.
